Freaky Friday the Musical

SECONDARY PERFORMING ARTS

On the 18th and 19th of August, our College community was treated to an incredible production of Freaky Friday. From the very first scene to the final bow, the show was a vibrant celebration of student talent, creativity, and teamwork. The onstage cast delivered outstanding performances, infusing every moment with energy, humour, and heart. Behind the scenes, the backstage crew worked tirelessly to ensure smooth transitions and flawless production, while the live band set the mood with their exceptional music, enhancing the atmosphere throughout the performances. A special highlight this year was the wonderful participation of Year 5 and 6 students from the Primary Campus, whose enthusiasm and charm added a delightful touch to the show. Productions like this would not be possible without the dedication of staff, the encouragement of families, and the support of our wider school community. We extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to this remarkable achievement — we are incredibly proud of what our students have accomplished.

The production was more than just a show; it was an opportunity for students from different year levels to come together and form lasting friendships. As Kiara from Year 9 shared, “One of my favourite things about the production experience is getting to know everyone better and working with people from different grades.” This spirit of connection and collaboration was echoed by many involved. For Adele, a main cast member from Year 11, Freaky Friday was an unforgettable journey of growth and challenge. “From the very beginning, everyone poured their time, energy, and heart into bringing this story to life,” she said. “We gathered every Thursday after school to rehearse lines, practice dances, and support one another. Learning the choreography, especially for the finale, was tough but so rewarding. Watching the show come together and seeing friendships blossom made all the hard work worth it.” Similarly, Mannat from Year 9 described the production as a “welcoming and supportive family,” where rehearsals were filled with fun and positive energy. Yvonne, Year 8, added that whether backstage or onstage, everyone felt encouraged and safe, making the experience as much about personal growth as performance: “It’s so fun watching everyone become close and seeing yourself grow not just as a character but as a person.”

Year 10 student Carmel summed up the experience perfectly, reflecting on the creativity, passion, and teamwork that made Freaky Friday truly special. “Watching each person grow in confidence and encourage one another made the production an unforgettable and joyful experience. I’m so grateful for the amazing team and cast we had.” This year’s Freaky Friday was more than a performance—it was a journey of connection, learning, and celebration that brought our school community together in a way that will be remembered for years to come.
