Happy Birthday to Bruce Lee, American Icon HE IMPACTED AMERICAN CULTURE IN MANY WAYS
When you were a kid, what did you watch when you had a sick day or a snow day? We all have that one network, show, or movie series we watched. For me, I enjoyed watching Bruce Lee films. I’m sure you’ve come across Bruce Lee movies during your lifetime. Lee captured the hearts of many with his action-packed movies and inspired many kids to enroll in martial arts. He changed the perception of Chinese culture and successfully bridged the gap between Western and Eastern cultures. While he passed away in 1973 at the age of 32, he left a lasting impact on American culture and films. Growing up, I remember going to my friends’ houses and seeing Lee’s posters on their bedroom walls. We would square off while playing in the backyard, and while none of us took martial arts, we at least tried to
major films, Eastern civilizations were depicted very differently. But during the ’70s, everything changed, and the perspective of how we viewed Asians altered. And much of it was because of Bruce Lee.
“While he is no longer with us, his movies, influence, and martial arts philosophy will keep his spirit alive. He’s inspired millions of people worldwide and will continue to do so.”
On top of that, Lee’s movies impacted the action movie genre. He was relatable because, unlike protagonists who had superpowers and relied on them to save the day, Lee taught us that if we were willing to put in the work and train, we could all be heroes. His movies inspired a wave of Western martial

and on-demand. I still see teenagers wearing shirts with Lee’s face, and see street artists throughout the country painting his image onto their canvases and pop art projects. It’s mind-blowing that Lee is still as famous today as he was when he first entered the scene. But I think Lee will continue to impact our society for generations to come. Bruce Lee was born in San Francisco, California, but grew up in Hong Kong. He understood how to speak to both audiences
arts films and television shows, and launched the careers of Chuck Norris, Steven Seagal and Jean‑Claude Van Damme. Lee was trained in several martial arts disciplines and became a well-known teacher. He eventually moved to Los Angeles to teach, where his students included Chuck Norris, Sharon Tate, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Lee was also trained in boxing and, eventually, combined several styles into a single discipline widely credited as paving the way to today’s mixed martial arts contests.
in a way no one else could. With his work in five feature-length Honk Kong martial arts films, Lee changed America’s perception of Asians and provided audiences with a new way to relate to action films.
Bruce Lee’s birthday is on Nov. 27. If he were alive today, he would be 82 years old. While he is no longer with us, his movies, influence, and martial arts philosophy will keep his spirit alive. He’s inspired millions of people worldwide and will continue to do so.
I remember watching “Saturday Night Fever” and spotting a Bruce Lee poster in Tony’s (John Travolta’s) room. The poster was beside a “Rocky” poster and painted a very captivating image — we can relate to these individuals. Before Lee’s movies and seeing his posters in other

ADD MORE LIFE TO YOUR WORK-LIFE BALANCE WITH THESE 3 TIPS
Establish a workspace. Our environment can play a large role in how we feel each day. If you haven’t established a workspace in your home, you might struggle to separate work from home life. Think about it; if you work from your
One of the biggest concerns employers have with remote work revolves around employees finding distractions at home that will take their attention away from job duties. While this is certainly true for some remote workers, it doesn’t apply to everyone. Certain individuals will even be drawn back into work at home when they’re supposed to be spending time with their family or doing hobbies they enjoy. In fact, when remote workers don’t unplug from their work, they are much more likely to burn out. If you or your employees are currently working remotely, it’s important to establish a proper work-life balance. Here are three ways to include more personal time in your daily routine. Set boundaries. After you clock out for the day, it can be easy to get dragged back in if you get a text or email relating to your job. That’s why it’s important to set boundaries for yourself. Once you reach a certain time in the day, turn off your work phone or email. Set an alarm for yourself for a time when your work day comes to a close — and put everything away so you can focus on your home life.
living room, you will probably find it more difficult to relax there later in the evening. You don’t have to turn an entire room into an office, but dedicating a corner as your workspace will come with benefits. Wear work attire. What we wear has an effect on how we feel. If you’re wearing sweatpants while you work, it can be difficult to unwind when you’re off the clock and wearing the same clothes. Switch it up and wear professional attire while you’re working. When the workday comes to a close, you can shed your work clothes for something comfier, which will help you relax and focus on what’s going on at home.

Winter Is Coming Don’t Let Those Pipes Freeze!
Consistent Heating and Running Water When you leave your home for work or vacation, you need to ensure that the temperature does not drop too much in your home. Keep the heat on and leave your thermostat at a minimum of 55 degrees F. Keep one of your faucets open with a slow steady drip, but be sure to choose a tap that’s far from your main water shut-off valve to help relieve the pressure that an ice blockage could cause. Any cabinets that have plumbing within them (like under your sinks) should be kept open. Your warm house air will help prevent the pipes from freezing over. When a pipe bursts, you could be looking at expensive fees to get it repaired, so it’s much better to be proactive than reactive. Follow these tips and you shouldn’t need to worry about your pipes freezing this winter!
Depending on where you live, you may already be experiencing freezing temperatures that signal the impending approach of winter. But while you can bundle up and protect yourself from the cold, your home can’t, so you need to find ways to protect it from winter damage. One such area that’s often overlooked is the plumbing system.
When water freezes, its volume expands. When this happens inside of a pipe, it’s at risk of bursting. Water will begin to pour out of the busted pipe into your home until the water is shut off somewhere upstream. You’ll have to call a plumber to repair the broken pipes and may even need to replace your floors if they suffered from too much water damage. Thankfully, you can take some preventive measures to avoid the risk of freezing pipes. Proper Insulation Insulation should be installed around the pipes throughout your home. You can use special insulating tape or tube-shaped foam sleeves to protect your pipes in areas vulnerable to the cold. You should also check your attic insulation to ensure that it’s helping keep the house warm. Block any gaps in your doors or windows with caulking and weather stripping to keep the cold air out.
