Some new provincial infrastructure funding aid is available and East Hawkesbury Township wants to get some of that money for storm sewer work. Township council approved a proposal from administration to send an application to a new municipal infrastructure assistance program that the provincial government has announced. The Municipal Housing Infrastructure 1SPHSBN)FBMUIBOE4BGFUZ8BUFS4USFBN (MHIP) aids municipalities with infrastructure work that deals with their water systems, with emphasis on projects that deal with the health and safety needs of residents. ‘;k,mThe township has doing some improvements to the storm sewer system JO UIF 7JMMBHF PG 4U&VHÍOF #FDBVTF PG limited funding available in the municipal budget, those improvements have focused on replacing parts of the western portion of the village’s storm sewer system. The new provincial aid program could help the township deal with the eastern section of the village storm sewers, which administration noted are “shovel ready” with plans and cost estimates all worked out. Administration also noted that the United Counties of Prescott-Russell (UCPR) wants to do repaving work on Labrosse Street, which is a designated county connector road. The eastern part of the storm sewer system needs replacing before that happens.
