FACTS & FIGURES Today, there are around 2,400 students, 100 faculty members and 27 employees at FEUC. The wider university, meanwhile, is said to have more than 22,000 students in total. Among FEUC’s master’s programme portfolio is a two-year English-language MSc in sustainable cities and communities offered in partnership with the University of Poitiers in France and University of Turku in Finland. Looking at costs, FEUC’s executive MBA is offered at a price of €6,750 at the time of writing, while a two-year master’s in management is listed at €7,000 for international students. In conjunction with the 50th anniversary of its establishment on 2 December 2022, FEUC has been running a series of events and initiatives that will continue until 2 December 2023. Split across the five dimensions of conversations, reading, film, research projects and interviews, they are designed to showcase the school and wider university’s commitment to humanist values and desire to help solve the great problems of our time.
What led you to join the BGA network and what has membership meant for your school since you first joined? “FEUC has joined BGA to become part of a community that is committed to responding to societal challenges, promoting responsible management practices and preparing the leaders of the future. The BGA network gives FEUC access to best practices in management education that can improve our curricula, our impact on the community and our levels of internationalisation. In addition, BGA provides several resources and tools to students from associated entities, so it benefits the entire FEUC community.” How would you describe your business school’s unique selling point (USP) to other members of the BGA network? “FEUC is an organised and cohesive faculty that benefits from the global prestige of the University of Coimbra brand and differentiates itself through three essential characteristics: a solid collective commitment to quality of teaching; an internal environment marked by internationalisation and supported by quality research; and a strong commitment to interdisciplinarity, allowing students to benefit from a virtuous cohabitation of different scientific areas. “The study programmes offered by FEUC are strongly committed to innovation and the enhancement of lifelong learning. They are also designed to develop the competences required by employers, while improving students’ soft skills and preparing them for a volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous world.” Álvaro Garrido, dean of the Faculty of Economics, University of Coimbra
