Building Science I - Build a Better House - April 22 Building Science I explores the foundational principles that influence the performance, durability, and efficiency of new home construction and remodeling. This class introduces the critical science behind how homes manage heat, air, and moisture, helping builders and remodelers better understand building performance. Participants will gain practical knowledge of key concepts such as Newton’s 2nd Law of Thermodynamics, entropy vs. negentropy, capillarity, the three forms of water, the three methods of heat transfer, and vapor drive, and how these principles apply to real-world residential construction. Building Science II - Build a Better House - April 23 Building Science II focuses on the practical application of building science principles to key materials and systems used in residential construction. Participants will learn how climate, energy performance, and building components work together to impact comfort, durability, and efficiency. The class explores topics such as climate zones, diagnostic testing and HERS scoring, Net Zero Ready construction, and the role of major building systems. Participants will also review best practices for roofs, insulation, HVAC systems —including heat pumps, ERVs, makeup air, and humidity control—along with water heaters, gas vs. electric systems, windows, and foundations. Estimating: The First Line of Defense for Profits - NAHB Certificate Course - April 29 This course focuses on the critical role of cost estimating in successful project preparation. Participants gain the skills to accurately estimate project costs, use estimating tools and systems, adapt to changing market conditions, and improve efficiency, profitability, and client satisfaction through effective project setup. The Project Schedule as a Planning and Communication Tool - NAHB Certificate Course - April 29 This course teaches how to create and use a project schedule as both a planning and communication tool. Participants learn the fundamentals of scheduling, different schedule types, contract considerations, and how effective scheduling improves efficiency, collaboration, client satisfaction, and profitability. Participants learn how to select the right technology, build trust, craft effective calls to action, and drive targeted traffic through SEO, paid search, social media, and third-party listing sites to convert prospects into buyers.
