Labour Standards: The terms and conditions of telecommuting must meet the minimum labour standards required by law such as providing equipment, data security measures, covering internet expenses, ensuring occupational health and safety standards, providing access to mental health care, enforcing a code of conduct, maintaining fair performance evaluation standards and enforcing emergency protocols for disruptions owing to technical breakdowns or weather conditions.

3. Defining telecommuting employees: Telecommuting

employees are not considered ‘field personnel’ unless their actual hours of work cannot be determined with reasonable certainty. 4. Adoption Notice: Notice of the adoption of a telecommuting program should be made through the DOLE online Establishment Report System. Remote work has become the new norm, and it is high time that all the other countries follow Philippines in embracing it efficiently. Balancing legal compliance with a productive and motivating work atmosphere is key to implementing successful remote work policies.
