This October we would be looking at Unfair Dismissal from day one, so I’d been outlining a brief to cover Recruitment (look at areas for improvement and reduce bad decisions), Induction (are we giving newcomers ample chances to perform?) and Manager training on selection, managing and performance. Much of this would reinforce what we already have in place, but the stakes had been raised. No bad thing to review what’s happening, though. A lot had already been written about this, some of it not very complimentary! But if you were selecting and managing fairly and effectively, it shouldn’t have been too much of a problem. For quite a few, however, I suspected it would be a problem! Only one email from the department, the CEO was interviewing candidates for Sales Director, but not much else happening, so things were running as quietly as one could expect in holiday season. I put this aside for now. Three days left of relaxing, swimming and exploring this lovely and relatively unknown part of the Caribbean. After that, a four-hour coach trip back to the capital and the flight home. Got to work on that tan! PS Can anyone have a guess at where I am?
