Our crawfish boil brought together 175 guests for a lively evening of great food and even better company. With 300 pounds of crawfish steaming hot and seasoned to perfection, the crowd kept our chefs busy all night. Alongside the main feast, 100 burgers and hot dogs were served up, making sure everyone left full and happy. T he Dallas Builders Association hosted a Young Professionals event titled “Professional Pillars for Success,” featuring Ralph Williams, Owner/CEO of Sales Solve Everything and Pyvot Homes. A nationally recognized expert in new home sales, Williams has partnered with over 100 builders across more than 20 states and brings experience as a top sales professional, VP of Sales, and Division President. He is known for his practical coaching approach centered on connection, care, hard work, practice, and development, and delivers training through initiatives like the New Home Sales School in Dallas. A frequent speaker at major industry events, including the International Builder Show, he also launched Pyvot Homes in 2024, a luxury home building company in the Dallas-Fort Worth area focused on thoughtful design, quality craftsmanship, and exceptional buyer experiences.
Dallas BA Regional codes advocacy benefits housing attainability — Dallas BA continues its advocacy in the codes arena. The Association serves as a voting member on the North Central Texas Council of Government’s Regional Codes Coordinating Committee (RCCC). The RCCC, and its five advisory boards comprised of local public and private code professionals, continually review the latest editions of the model construction codes from the International Codes Council and recommend uniform amendments for the North Central Texas Region. This process provides uniformity across multiple jurisdictions, reducing training costs for municipal personnel and making it easier for contractors, builders, and developers to work across the region. The result is a package of code amendments tailored to better fit the region’s needs, as well as a reduction in construction costs that can be thousands of dollars per home.
The RCCC’s Electrical Advisory Board is currently reviewing the 2026 National Electrical Code and considering regional amendment recommendations. The NEC runs on a different cycle than the majority of I-Codes. Dallas BA is monitoring and will update our members as information becomes available. Many area municipalities have already adopted the RCCC’ s recommendations for regional amendments for the 2024 I-Codes in some form, along with local amendments. Dallas BA members are encouraged to look into what codes have been adopted in the cities where they provide homes. If you are concerned whether a municipality has adopted the COG amendments, please contact the Dallas BA.
The Dallas City Council on March 25 approved amending the city’s ordinances that govern electric vehicle charging infrastructure ratios. The Council voted to approve a cap on the minimum number of EV-capable spaces required, as well as clarifying other language from the ordinance’s original drafting. The update provides a needed adjustment for multifamily development. Since 2023, concerns have existed regarding the original requirement resulting in a disproportionately high number of EV-capable spaces for larger parking facilities. EV-capable spaces have electrical capacity, conduit, and raceway to support a future EV charger.
The existing requirement called for a 20% minimum of all parking spaces on facilities that park 26 or more vehicles. For a multifamily project that includes 250 parking spaces, it would have required 50 of the parking spaces to have added infrastructure to qualify as EV-capable. The concern grew when a retail development, planning for 450 parking spaces, faced a requirement of 90 EV-capable spaces, estimated to increase development costs by approximately $1 million. After debating the amendment in a public hearing, the City Council voted in favor of amending the cap on developments parking 26 or more. The new cap will be 20% of the total parking spaces, or 10, whichever is less.
