I am personally excited for Friday night as we will see head- liner Haywire take to the stage. I remember seeing Haywire when they first started, which does age me a bit as the award- winning band formed three decades ago in Char- lottetown. Haywire have sold more than half a million records and spawned a dozen hit songs in the ’80s and ’90s. Pictou County Pop Classics, also hit the stage on Friday night with the best of ’60s and ’70s rock, along with Andre Pettipas & theGiants, a local three-piece Antigonish rock band. Groove- back, a group of close friends raised in rural Nova Scotia will kick off the 3 days of amazing music at the jubilee. “This year’s festival brings a few local Pictou County favourites back to the stage. We are very proud that all artists on our main stage and off are proud Canadian artists and the majority of those call the East Coast home.” Saturday night continues with The TownHeroes, a four-piece alternative-rock band and they will be joining co-headliners for the night, Wintersleep and Matt Mays. Closing out the weekend and the jubilee are Fortunate Ones, Matt Andersen amd The Bona Fide and Alan Doyle and the Beautiful Gypsies. We caught Alan Doyle and the Beautiful Gypsies performance at the Cavendish Beach Music Festival a few years ago when we were covering that event and it was truly an amazing performance and one that we recommend that you do not miss this year at the Riverfront Jubilee.
