May 3 – 4: Marin Irish Festival Have you always wanted to learn more about Irish culture? Well, you are in luck because the Marin Irish Festival is coming to San Rafael on May 3 to 4. Located at the Marin County Fairgrounds, 10 Avenue of the Flags in San Rafael, guests will gather lakeside at Lagoon Park from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The festival will be packed full with entertainment, craft vendors, sheep dog demos, falconry, an Irish dance competition and more. Tickets are $30 per adult, $15 for kids aged 5 to 11 and children 4 and under are free. For more information, visit marinirishfestival.com.
May 10: New Living Expo Attend New Living Expo and discover a world where wellness, innovation and spirit converge. Celebrating 21 years of inspiring journeys, it’s a celebration of health, wellness and spirituality designed to enlighten, educate and empower. New Living Expo is your gateway to a vibrant, healthier and more mindful existence. General admission includes: exhibits, lectures, panels, food court, music, body movement. April 13: Learn to nature journal Take a break from your busy life and practice nature journaling at Paradise Beach Park, 3450 Paradise Drive in Tiburon, from 10 a.m. to noon. The materials for journaling will be provided and participants will be led through the basics of nature journaling and field observation—this event is appropriate for ages 10 and up. Attendees will then try their hand at sketching and identifying local plants and animals. The event is free but registration is required at marincounty.gov.
April 22: Clean & Green Day in Downtown San Rafael In honor of Earth Day on April 22, the Downtown San Rafael Business Improvement District and San Rafael Clean Coalition are hosting a Clean & Green Day. Volunteers will work to spruce up the downtown, removing graffiti, pulling spring weeds, picking up litter, etc. Volunteers will meet at City Plaza, 100 Fourth St. in San Rafael, at 10 a.m. To learn more about volunteering, visit downtownsanrafael.org.
