time and space enables individuals to share more than time and space. THE UNDERLYING VISION BSL believes that the learning experience is the critical differentiator for business education’s long-term success in a ‘school’ environment. This is because elements such as business expertise or flexibility in learning can be found equally well in distance- learning environments, or even in the pure experience of business found in an incubator, for example. BSL, therefore, pays special attention to the learning experience it provides and, in particular, experiential learning. After all, it is experience that gives an understanding of the big picture, the stakes, the challenges and the potential solutions. Inspiring experiential learning activities can prove challenging in the long run. It is about keeping the school moving alongside its traditional administrative and educational tasks. In this, welcoming external bodies, such as MyBluePlanet, generates positive energy that can spread throughout the whole campus. It helps engage students more deeply in concrete actions and equips them with the skills needed to make a difference in the real world.
to treat space as a pivotal variable to realise specific projects, such as the creation of a media production room or a new students’ lounge. The square metres needed for these new spaces have been found by rationalising the overall organisation of staff offices, moving most of the library online and optimising the use and allocation of classrooms used for teaching. The visibility of this effort – something that can be noticed by any regular visitor to BSL, be they students, faculty or staff – also demonstrates the school’s commitment to experiential learning. CONVERGENCE OF INTERESTS Joining forces with MyBluePlanet is a great way for BSL to support the fight against climate change directly. The residency concept also promotes a wiser use of educational resources. Nothing is less efficient than a building that serves
