Getting Started We offer flexible study times at both our college sites, with classes scheduled throughout the week, and with morning and afternoon options All new learners begin with a short introductory course to help us to understand your current level and ensures that you are placed on the course best suited to your needs. Course Levels • Beginner (Pre - Entry/Foundation to Entry Level 1) : Learn the basics of speaking, listening, reading, and writing in English. • Elementary (Entry Level 2 to Entry Level 3) : Develop your communication skills for everyday life, work, and study. • Intermediate (Level 1) : Strengthen your English for professional settings, with a focus on grammar, spelling, and writing skills.
If you would like to improve your English and create new opportunities for yourself, whether you would like to build your confidence in daily conversations, support your children with their education, gain employment, or move on to further or higher education, our ESOL courses can help you to achieve your goals. Family Learning (FEML) Our Family Learning ESOL courses are designed to help parents and carers improve their English to be able to support their child ’ s education. All courses are free and usually take place at your child ’ s school or a nearby community centre, with timings that fit around school hours. Some venues also welcome younger children. You ’ ll develop practical communication skills to speak with teachers, take part in parents ’ evenings, and support your child with homework and learning at home. Family Learning ESOL is a great way for parents, children, and even grandparents to learn together in a fun and supportive environment.

How do I begin my journey?
• Dependents and family members of an eligible individual from Northern Ireland if they have

How much will it cost? Many of our courses are free.

Residency Eligibility To be eligible to study with the college, you must be: • British nationals, including British Citizens, British Overseas Territories Citizens, British Overseas Citizens, British Subjects, British Nationals (Overseas) and British Protected Persons
You may be eligible for a concession (reduced) fee on some courses. This is subject to production of the required evidence at enrolment. * list of eligibility for concessions • Course fees include an exam fee (if applicable). • For course fees over £100 you can pay in instalments. Refunds and course closures • We will refund you in full if we close your course. • If you notify us in writing 2 weeks before the start of your course that you no longer wish to proceed, we will refund you. A £22 administration charge will apply. Starting your Journey
Level 2 Entitlement If you are aged 19 - 23 you may be entitled to free tuition if you do not already have a qualification at or above Level 2. We will check your details against the Learning Records Service. Proof of Income • Payslips (covering the last 3 months) or bank statements showing your salary • Universal Credit • Jobseeker ’ s Allowance (JSA) • Employment & Support Allowance (ESA/WRAG) • Income Support • Working Tax Credit or Pension Guarantee Credit • Housing or Council Tax Benefit Proof of Benefit A benefits award letter issued within the last three months. If the documentation is over three months old the relevant page from one bank statement within the last month showing receipt of benefit payment will also be required.

What is Inclusive Growth?

From Ford to Film … we ’ ve come a long way! Our Film Barking and Dagenham: Make It Here programme was created to help local people to access employment, training and supply chain opportunities linked to local film activity, in partnership with the borough ’ s new film studios run by MBS - Hackman.
The programme is delivering:

From September 2025 we ’ re relocating to a new home. You ’ ll be able to find us at the Adult College - Barking Campus. The BRIC offers a variety of Construction & The Built Environment and Green Skills qualifications and training for anyone wishing to start their career or renew their tickets.
BRIC CSCS Test Centre
The BRIC training centre offers construction qualifications and training, as well as test centre facilities where you can book your CITB Health, Safety & Environment Test. The CITB Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) & CSCS card is essential for anyone wishing to work on a
