The Catch - Fish, Chip & Burger Bar 158 Koornang Rd, Carnegie

ON THE MARKET with Nick Renna

The team at The Catch are excited to bring their customers Fish, Chips and Burgers at their simplistic best, in a bar style venue with a leafy courtyard at the rear. They pride themselves on using fresh and local products and hope to bring their customers dishes of the highest quality.  For traditional fish and chips, you can expect to come across old favourites, golden potato cakes, thick cut chips and delicious dim-sims, while an assortment of fresh fish and seafood is available for purchase or to order, served with a number of salad options. The menu is rounded out by a large selection of burgers that don’t skimp on the trimmings and take two hands to hold (as they should). Of course there is no going past the crowd

Winter may soon be upon us but the market is still running at full steam. After the strongest quarterly price growth since 2013, Melbourne’s median house price has risen to $826K according to the REIV. Although the Easter weekend was typically quiet, average clearance rates across the nation’s capitals nonetheless nudged towards 80%, up by approximately 10% over last year’s figures. Robust growth has also been observed in the apartment sector and regional sales, thanks to continued low interest rates and a relative lack of supply in the market. For houses close to the CBD, Thornbury has seen a significant uptick as buyers find themselves priced out of popular inner suburbs like Northcote, according to REA Group Chief Economist Nerida Conisbee. In the larger picture, Consibee observes, affordability remains the driver of suburb popularity, with people prepared to commute if the right home and lifestyle are on the table. Thinking of selling?
