K’s Plant Collective by Peri Hayes Kim Santos celebrated the soft launch of K’s Plant Collective on May 3rd, officially opening her doors on May 10th. Upon a Tarot card reading from her friend, Casey, Kim felt that pursuing this venture was the fulfilling next step for her. With abundant horticultural inspiration, Kim thoughtfully reveals, “I love plants. I thought, maybe I can do something with this. I was really excited and dove in head first.” The business was born out of Kim’s home and has since transformed to their 204 Carlow Road location. “This is it,” she beams. This is not Kim’s entrepreneurial debut, as she previously owned The Fresh Wave on William Street with her mother. Having lived here for 16 years and counting, Kim feels at home situating her store in Port Stanley. “The village has been amazing!”, she announces. Kim is proud to continue offering visits to nearby residents who experience difficulty shopping online or with travelling to K’s Plant Collective. “I get to play in the dirt every day,” she enthuses. “I can allow my creativity to soar.” Kim is passionate about guiding others in discovering which plants will thrive best, being suited to their lifestyle. Asked what excites Kim about her business, she replies, “Showing people that they are great with plants when they believe they are not.” Kim’s customers send pictures to her as a means to share their progress. She extends her gratitude for the kind messages and positive feedback received thus far: “I’m really happy with the response that I’ve gotten.” At K’s Plant Collective, plants are preserved in unique ‘vessels’ -- an array of sculpted baking sheets, tea cups, upcycled bowls and beyond.
