As an acknowledgement of our commitment to legal education, we were voted Legal Education Provider of the Year at the 2016 Solicitors Journal Awards . Nottingham Law School has an excellent record of graduate employability. Our focus on practical skills and our dedicated careers and recruitment service ensures that you get the best possible start to your career. We have an award-winning pro bono scheme and our commitment to practical legal education is epitomised by our ‘Teaching Law Firm’ – the legal advice centre. This centre provides a multitude of opportunities for students as well as access to justice for a variety of clients. Graduate Diploma in Law (full time or distance learning) This conversion course is designed for any non-law graduate who intends to become a solicitor or barrister in the UK. The intensive course effectively covers the seven core subjects of an undergraduate law degree in one go. It is the stepping stone to the LPC or the BPTC and to a legal career thereafter. Legal Practice Course (full time or part time) At Nottingham Law School we strive to provide you with the practical knowledge and insight that employers regard as essential. This is why we have enhanced our LPC so that the successful completion of all its elements will result in the award of a Masters degree. As well as providing you with an internationally recognised qualification, our LLM Legal Practice Course will provide enhanced insight into the legal profession. On the LLM part of the course you will have the opportunity to complete a project or dissertation, focusing on aspects of legal practice that interest you. You will also benefit from a series of lectures delivered by experts within the legal profession, a bridge to practise module and commercial awareness training. Bar Professional Training Course (full time) Nottingham Law School designed its BPTC to develop a range of core practical skills, and to equip students to succeed in the fast-changing environment of practice at the Bar. We have enhanced our BPTC so that the successful completion of all its elements will result in the award of a Master’s degree: LLM Bar Professional Training Course. Particular emphasis is placed on the skill of advocacy and Nottingham Law School is home to the UK’s first centre for advocacy. The BPTC is taught entirely by qualified practitioners, and utilises the same integrated and interactive teaching methods as all of the school’s other professional courses. Essentially, students learn by doing. Students are encouraged to realise, through practice and feedback, their full potential. Other postgraduate courses We offer LLMs in a number of subject areas including international trade and commercial law; oil, gas and mining law; human rights law; intellectual property law; health law and ethics; corporate and insolvency law; and sports law. We also provide research degrees, a professional doctorate in legal practice and intellectual property courses for practitioners.
