Types of work As a trainee you will have the opportunity to experience seats in the following areas: banking and nance; commercial; commercial dispute resolution; construction, engineering and projects; corporate; corporate tax; corporate restructuring and insolvency; employment, pensions and immigration; family; nancial services; IP litigation; private property; private wealth disputes; property litigation; real estate and tax, trusts and succession. These practice areas are focused on the following sector areas: charities/ not for pro t, construction and infrastructure, energy and natural resources, nancial services, healthcare, private wealth, real estate, retail and leisure, sport and TMT. Who should apply We require candidates to achieve a minimum of a 2.1 in their degree and be able to demonstrate other key attributes outside of academia, such as teamwork, leadership, communication skills and initiative. People come to us from a range of backgrounds and degree disciplines, with a range of views that combine to give us our distinctive perspective on the law. Training programme The two-year training contract at Charles Russell Speechlys is divided into four seats, giving trainees the opportunity to experience a range of different practice areas before quali cation where they engage in high level work with both private clients and commercial clients. Throughout the training contract, there are regular meetings and reviews between the trainees and their supervisors to ensure they are continuing to receive a broad range of quality work and that they are developing the required skills and knowledge as they progress through their seats. There are also a number of CSR and pro-bono initiatives that the trainees are encouraged to get involved with. Work placements Our vacation schemes take place in each of our UK of ces: London, Cheltenham and Guildford, and offers a detailed introduction to the legal world. Each week is spent in a different practice area where you will carry our real fee earning work that could include attending client meetings and going to court. You will have support from trainees and solicitors in each of the teams and have the opportunity to meet a number of different people, either at our organised social events or as part of your day to day interactions.
