LC.N TCPH 2020

The firm Mayer Brown was one of the first law firms to develop a global platform in response to clients’ increasing need for high quality technical expertise for integrated, cross-border matters. Today, we are one of the world’s leading international business law firms. With approximately 200 lawyers in each of the three largest financial centres – New York, London and Hong Kong – we are uniquely positioned to advise the world’s leading companies and financial institutions on their most complex deals and disputes. Through our offices across the Americas, Asia, Europe and the Middle East, and our association with Tauil & Chequer Avogados (T&C), we field diverse teams of lawyers who work together seamlessly to deliver excellence for our clients. Types of work Our lawyers have expertise across a wide range of areas including corporate, finance, real estate, construction, litigation and dispute resolution, white collar crime, investigations, employment, pensions, antitrust and competition, insurance and reinsurance, tax, financial services regulatory and intellectual property, restructuring and insolvency. Who should apply We are looking for candidates who not only have a consistently strong academic record including a minimum of a 2.1 degree (predicted or obtained) in any discipline, but also who have a wide range of interests and achievements outside their academic career. Additionally, we would like to see innovative candidates who can demonstrate a drive for results, good verbal and written communication skills, and an ability to analyse, with good judgement and excellent interpersonal skills. Training programme One of the advantages of joining Mayer Brown are the choices available to you. As a trainee at the firm, you will be able to tailor your training contract across a broad range of seats, including our main practice areas in London (as listed above), and the potential to complete an international secondment. If you don’t want to stray too far, you have the option to gain valuable in-house experience by going on secondment to one of the firm’s major clients. While Mayer Brown is a global law firm, our London office remains a tightly knit team with an open and inclusive culture. You will be given significant opportunities to assist on matters which may be multidisciplinary, cross-border, complex and high-profile in nature. When and how to apply The deadline for training contracts commencing in March/September 2022 is 31 January 2020. However we encourage students to apply for a vacation scheme as this is the main pipeline for our training contracts each year; the deadline is 31 January 2020 for schemes in the spring and summer and we welcome applications from penultimate year, finalists and graduates too. Applications are made online via the website. Work placements We run three vacation schemes each year; one in the spring and two in the summer. You will gain experience in two key practice areas and be involved in seminars and social events including a trip to our Paris office. Our vacation schemes are the main pipeline for our training contracts each year. Sponsorship The firm will cover the cost of the GDL and LPC and will provide you with a maintenance grant to support you. The maintenance grant for the LPC is currently £10,000. For the GDL it is £7,000 in London and £6,500 elsewhere. 201 Bishopsgate, London EC2M 3AF Tel: 020 3130 8621 Email: graduaterecruitment@mayerbrown.com Web: www.mayerbrownfutures.com talk2mayerbrown Mayer Brown International LLP
