The firm Mundays is one of Surrey’s leading law firms, operating from modern offices, with easy access to London and the M25. Many of our lawyers have worked in the City but have chosen to relocate to a firm where we aim to offer a service as good as (if not better than) competitors in London at more economic rates, while enabling our lawyers to achieve a better work/life balance. We offer our diverse range of clients (both corporate and private) comprehensive, responsive and commercial advice, with separate departments working closely together as appropriate. Types of work The firm is divided into six principal departments: commercial property, residential property and development, corporate and commercial (including employment), dispute resolution, private wealth and family. Within these departments, we have specialisms such as aviation and logistics, retail and healthcare. Who should apply Candidates will need to demonstrate their confidence, ability to communicate and personality. They are also required to have three A levels or equivalent (ordinarily ABB or better), have or expect to receive at least a 2.1 degree (applications from law and non-law graduates are welcome), and to demonstrate comparable performance in any postgraduate courses in law. We are looking for well-rounded individuals who are keen to develop their career with us as trainees and beyond. Training programme Trainees typically spend periods of six months in each of four departments, sharing a room with a partner or senior solicitor so that they can observe exactly how the job is done and have the opportunity to learn from day one. Trainees also have the opportunity to work for other fee earners so that they are exposed to a wide range of specialisms and working styles in their department. So far as possible, we aim to accommodate the wishes of trainees to gain experience of any particular specialist area in which we practise. Trainees are encouraged to take on responsibility from the beginning of their training through direct experience of dealing with matters and working alongside fee- earners. Progress is closely monitored and training given to reflect the needs of individual trainees. As a result, we are extremely pleased that Mundays was nominated for the award of Best Trainer – Medium Regional firm at the LawCareers.Net Training and Recruitment Awards from 2012 to 2016 and again in 2018. We have also been nominated for Best Recruiter – Medium Regional Firm 2019. These nominations were based on feedback surveys from our current trainees in each year. These nominations acknowledge the high quality of the training on which we pride ourselves. The Lex 100 also announced Mundays as a winner in the Client Contact category where trainees ‘feel like part of the team - rather than a small cog’ and also a winner in the Work/Life Balance category. The Lex 100 2016/17 survey consisted of anonymous responses gathered from over 3,000 trainees at 173 law firms across the UK.
