This allows young barristers to get the best of both worlds: sessions that are ‘badged’ as having a Young Bar focus, in addition to the main keynote addresses and sessions, as well as a chance to meet other barristers from all parts of the profession across all seniorities. Pupils and students are welcome to attend, and can do so at a heavily reduced rate: https:// www.barcouncil.org.uk/supporting-the- bar/conferences,-training-and-other- events/2019/november/annual-and-young- bar-conference-2019/ International work Building on the YBC’s previous international work, we have continued to be involved with the European Young Bar Association and have maintained contacts with the American Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division, the International Bar Association and the International Association of Young Lawyers. This includes co-hosting International Weekend in September and welcoming young lawyers from Europe, the US and across the globe to London for a series of networking and educational events. Last year also saw the incoming leg of the biennial Anglo Dutch Exchange, which is now over 50 years old and featured a week of legal and social activities for our Dutch colleagues. The YBC also administers the Bar Council’s International Grant programme, which provides financial support for young barristers in any area of law who wish to attend an international event relevant to their practice.
