North Patrol Division Grand Opening On April 3, the North Patrol Division headquarters official- ly opened. The new facility is located at 8755 North River- side Drive. The grand opening was attended by City Council Members, City Manager David Cooke, Chief Joel Fitzgerald and other City officials. The 23,000-square-foot facility will serve the growing population in north Fort Worth.

Recruit Class 145 Graduation

Recruit Class 145 began their journey towards becoming Fort Worth police officers on August 21, 2017. The jour- ney lasted for 34 weeks with graduation commencing on April 13, 2018 with a class of 40 new officers. The officers are assigned to different patrol divisions riding with a Field Training Officer for 14 weeks. Upon successful completion of field training, the officers will be released to solo status.

Spanish Citizens Police Academy Graduation

On June 21, 128 participants graduated the Spanish Citizens Police Academy Class #18. The course is a 12- week class, where participants learn about specific functions of the Police Department. For more information on the Citizens Police Academy, visit www.police.fortworthtexas.gov.

Crime Lab Recognition

On May 24, the Fort Worth Police Department’s Crime Lab was recognized for receiving the 2018 Foresight Maximus Award. The award was presented by the American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors and recognizes the top performing forensic laboratories in the world based on Foresight business metrics. Metrics included work processes, linking financial information to work tasks, and functions.
