It’s a restorative cosmetic treatment where chemical solutions are applied to the skin, creating a controlled mild injury to a specific depth, and as it heals there is improvement in the skin’s texture and appearance. It removes damaged skin cells while stimulating a turnover for healthy cell renewal, moisture retention, and collagen structure. It treats concerns like sun damage, hyperpigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles, acne, scarring, texture, and large pores. Peels are a great introductory treatment for someone new to the aesthetic and cosmetics world, or even as an addition to your current treatments and skin care routines. Each peel type and strength can have different results, and the consultation process with your provider is important to decide what is best for your specific concerns. Peels can range in depths from superficial, medium, and deep. The depth of the peel can determine the injury to the skin and the downtime involved with treatment. A superficial peel exfoliates the topmost layer of skin, for more mild concerns and minimal downtime (1-7 days). Medium and deep peels are a step up in strength for more moderate to severe cases, penetrating Chemical peels are an ideal treatment if you’re looking for something affordable with many options, that require little to no downtime. deeper into the skin and requiring more recovery time (1-2 weeks). Most chemical peel treatments will be recommended in a series to get optimal results. At CaloSpa, we want to make sure we have an option for every skin type by offering a variety of peels: Glycolic, Salicylic, Pyruvic, SkinMedica ® ’s TNS Peels (Illuminize ® , Vitalize ® , Rejuvenize ® ), and ZO ® ’s 3-Step Peel. We have different strengths that we can customize for each patient to achieve your desired results. A Glycolic peel is a great option to help you treat signs of aging, pigment, scarring, texture, and overall complexion — while stimulating collagen and adding a healthy glow back to your skin. Salicylic peels are used to treat acne, blackheads and reduce hyperpigmentation post-breakouts. And if you’re wanting to target those premature signs of aging and acne prone skin together in a gentle way, we could treat them with a Pyruvic peel . TNS Illuminize peels are perfect before any wedding or special occasion to restore that youthful, radiant appearance. TNS Vitalize peel is a unique blend of acids with retinol, targeting mild to moderate concerns. TNS Rejuvenize peel is a similar blend as Vitalize, for more moderate to severe concerns. ZO’s 3-Step peel takes care of our patients with concerns of acne, large pores, and hyperpigmentation, especially melasma.
