Charity Own Clothes Day—by Edie Hepburn

This Friday was French House ’ s own clothes day in support of the charity Smile Train. Smile Train is an international children ’ s charity empowering local medical professionals with training, funding and resources to provide free surgery and comprehensive care to children with cleft lip or palate globally. Donations to Smile Train help immediately transform the lives of these children.

At Queen ’ s we had a bake sale, with all proceeds going to the charity. There is an additional competition where students (or staff) can try to guess the teacher based on a close up picture of their smile - entries are £1 each! French will continue to support Smile Train throughout the year - I look forward to seeing how much we can raise!

Army Scholarship

British Film Institute course The Art

Department is so very proud of Lucy Wilcox who has won a place on the British Film Institute course. Only 10 candidates were selected

amongst 16 - 19 year olds in the South West. This gives Lucy an opportunity to make a film with nine others over 9 days and it is fully funded by the British Film Institute. Lucy is studying Art, Textiles and Photography A Level and a very dedicated and creative pupil. We are so delighted for Lucy and excited about what she returns with after half term.

Louis Reynolds has been awarded a prestigious Army Scholarship securing a place to train as an army officer at the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst, and also benefiting from financial support for the final year at school and all through university.
