PREPARE A GOOD CV

Make sure you include:  Your Details Full name, address and contact number.  Personal Statement A small paragraph to introduce yourself and a brief description of your skills.  Education Include your school, college and/or the university you have atteended. Please give the dates you attended, the subjects studied and grades achieved.  Employment Put your most recent employment first and include dates, job titles and duties. Include any additional work experience and/or voluntary work. Please include the dates you were employed for each organisation  Additional Information This could include: a full UK driving licence, sports achievement, Duke of Edinburgh Award or if you have held a position of authority, for example, school councillor, form representative or House Captain.  Interests Expand on these, for example, “I enjoy tennis and I am part of a county club. I regularly compete in competitions.”

Your CV is your biggest selling tool so make sure that you get it noticed. To get you started, here are a few handy tips to make your CV stand out from the crowd…  Keep it relevant and current  Type it up on a computer and keep it in one style  Spell check throughout (even your name!)  Ensure it is clear and concise  Keep it succinct  Ask someone to proof read and check it for you  If you are sending it directly to an employer – send it with a covering letter

 References Include two names and the contact details

of someone who will be able to give your future employer a good reference about you. This could be a teacher, who can provide a character reference, or an employer who will be able to provide a professional reference.
