THE ROUND UP
EDITION #3
WELCOME Welcome to vol.3 of the MRG newsletter. It’s the middle of June, the sun is out in all its glory, and we’re all feeling the afterglow / residual hangover from Platty Jubes street parties. Summer is well and truly in full swing – check out the updates from across the business below.
BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT GROUP
Work on Bullhorn has been progressing, with data cleansing, data coding and system improvements all continuing to hit deadlines in readiness for the new website transition in July. Karl & the team have been doing a lot of work in the background to tackle this huge project. The new coding should also mean that talent pooling candidates is now a lot easier, helping to improve who we can target when sending eshots. Candidate compliance has improved immensely since the start of the year, with weekly review meetings helped along by Hayley S. Improvements to Sharepoint and Teams are also well underway to help the company improve on collaboration, and eventually lead to the creation of the staff intranet. A big shout out to Katherine, who this month has rolled out a huge project of bringing in new mobile phones for the entire UK office. If you have any questions about your device please speak to Katherine. All other systems & processes within the business are under the scrutiny of the BIG – there are many new projects in the pipeline for the end of this year as we continually seek to streamline the MRG business.
Thank you all for your generosity and support for first charity fundraiser - the Suited for Success Charity Quiz. The quiz saw a lot of people’s competitive side (and some interesting celebrations…!) come out, with it coming down to a tiebreaker to decide the winning team. We sold over 500 tickets and raised £730 (an incredible £912.50 including gift aid) for Suited for Success! This money has now been donated so that it can be put to good use, helping people get back into work. Keep an eye out for a main company event taking place later on the summer – details to follow shortly.
Also, we’ll be sharing further detail on our sustainability plans shortly too!
CLIMATE CHANGE AWARENESS
Next month we will be piloting a Climate Change Awareness Course with some team members. Stay tuned to find out how it goes.

PEOPLE IMPROVEMENT GROUP
SOCIALS We’ll be hosting an online event for International Yoga day . We’ll be doing something on Wednesday 22nd June as most people will be working from home this day. Keep an eye out for further information later this month. June’s ‘End-of-Month’ drinks will take place one day later on Friday 1st July, after the Summer Conference. A venue will be booked nearby to the venue and further details circulated soon.
BOOK CLUB This month we’ve got three fantastic recommendations from the MRG Team. There’s something here for everyone – we won’t be doing a formal meeting, but please let us know if you’ve enjoyed any of these this month. Fiction – Not a Happy Family by Shari Lapena A gripping thriller. Brecken Hill in upstate New York is an expensive place to live. You have to be rich to have a house there. And they don’t come much richer than Fred and Sheila Merton. The Mertons are brutally murdered the night after an Easter Dinner with their three adult kids. Who, of course, are devastated. Or are they? Non-Fiction – Atomic Habits by James Clear An atomic habit is a regular practice or routine that is not only small and easy to do but is also the source of incredible power, a component of the system of compound growth. Bad habits repeat themselves again and again not because you don’t want to change, but because you have the wrong system for change. Changes that seem small and unimportant at first will compound into remarkable results if you’re willing to stick with them for years. Podcast – Grounded with Louis Theroux Grounded with Louis Theroux is a radio and podcast series hosted by Louis Theroux for BBC Radio 4. In each episode, Theroux interviews a different high-profile person whom he has always wanted to talk to. From Boy George to FKA Twigs, Louis delves deep into the personal lives of different celebrities.
TRAINING
This month we had our best ever turnout for a single training session. Offer Management with Matthew Evans and Hayley Mintern saw an impressive 82% of the company attending, including the MRGPA team who tuned in remotely from Malaysia. Feedback on training has been really positive so far.
Upcoming Training Sessions for June
• Understanding the Customer – 30.06.22 - Lunch & Learn with Michael Hewlett. • Date amended from 23.06, due to the planned train strikes. • Maximising Microsoft Teams - 27.06.22 – Bitesize session (via teams) with Matthew Donovan. Keep an eye out for invitations and please ensure you RSVP so we can accurately gauge numbers. The Lunch and Learn will be held in person but a Teams link will be available.

CELEBRATIONS
This month we’re launching a brand new feature which focuses on the people at MRG. We want to share the exciting and fun things you’ve been up to outside of work; as the saying goes “You should work to live, not live to work”.
There have been lots of birthdays over the last month! Happy Birthday to Dan H, Hayley S, Henry, Katherine, Daniel S, Ashley and Simon.
Run Forest Run This month, Emilia ran the Hackney Half Marathon raising money for Missing People. Missing People are the only UK charity lifeline for anyone affected by someone going missing. 70,000 people are reported missing every year, and any support you can offer will mean something for each one of those people.
We have also had a number of work anniversaries over the month. Congratulations to Chris Brock and Carmen for 1 year at MRG People Asia, and to Hayley Mintern also.
Please click here if you would like to contribute your support.
Emilia completed her half marathon in an impressive 1 hour 53 minutes – not at all bad considering she didn’t train!
