Replacing All Site Fuels with Net Zero Emission Alternatives To achieve net-zero emissions, C ox Group will replace all site fuels with net-zero emission alternatives by 2040. The company will adopt alternative energy sources such as biogas or renewable natural gas to replace traditional fuels used in landfill gas capture, incineration, or other on-site processes. This transition will contribute to the overall carbon neutrality of C ox Group’s operations. Our Current Operations – What are we doing today? From our One Bin Service to our Zero to Landfill commitment we have been paving the way for a number of years helping our customers to be more sustainable and reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill. Today, we already have a number of initiatives and schemes in place that mean we are on track to reduce our CO2 emissions by 2050.
Our Unique ‘One Bin Service’
Our ‘One Bin’ Service allows customers to place everything in one bin without the hassle of sorting and recycling – it’s that simple. Allowing customers to place everything in one bin rather than sorting their waste into different waste streams simplifies the process and encourages maximum materials recovery. Other benefits include:
- -
Less collections resulting in reduced carbon footprint
Reduces overall cost to the customer
Materials collected through are One Bin service are processed at our Materials Recovery Facility in Guildford where it is sorted and separated by our team. Non-recyclable waste is then used to generate Green Energy while recyclables are recovered and processed on for recycling. We do not send any materials to landfill – this is our Zero to Landfill commitment.
Typically, through our One Bin service 52% of all waste recovered is reused or recycled and 48% is used to produce a Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) generating Green Electricity.
