Spanish Meter festival brings Goya Award winners S pain’s prestigious cinematic Goya Awards were awarded in Barcelona last month, and this year’s Spanish Meter film festival will provide audienc- es here in Serbia with their first chance to watch three films that have won multiple awards. The Spanish Meter festival (His- panometraje) is organised by the Cervantes Institute in Belgrade and will this year take place in the Serbian capital and Novi Sad from 27 th May to 3 rd June. The festival is set to formally open in the main hall of the Cultural Centre of Belgrade with a screening of the film Sundays (Los domingos) which won five Goya awards, including the top award for best film. The plot follows Ainara, a young woman who finds herself at an important life crossroads that must see her decide which college to attend. And while her friends explore the joys and turmoil of adolescence, Ainara feels increasingly drawn to the contemplative life of a Catholic convent. The jubilee 40 th awards ceremony of the Spanish Academy of Film Arts and Sciences saw the Best Actor Goya award presented to José Ramón Soroiz, who delighted both audience and critics alike with his leading role in the drama Maspalomas. This mov- ing film, which explores themes of sexuali- ty in later life, identity and family relation- ships, is authored by renowned directing duo Jose Mari Goenaga and Aitor Arregi. The main character is Vicente, an openly gay man in his seventies who enjoys all the charms of the tourist resort of Maspalo- mas on the island of Gran Canaria. Howev- er, his world suddenly turns upside down when he has a stroke. The Goya Awards for Best Adapted Screen- play and Best Costume Design went to the film The Dinner (La cena), a sharp comedy directed by Manuel Gomes Pereira. The plot unfolds in the turbulent aftermath of the Spanish Civil War. Unbeknownst to Fran- cisco Franco and his guests, a group of de- feated Republican chefs are secretly pre- paring dinner in the hotel kitchen, while at the same time hatching their last plot to flee the country.
P restižne španske filmske nagra- de Goja dodeljene su prošlog me- seca u Barseloni, a tri višestruko nagrađena filma ovdašnja publika mo- ći će premijerno da pogleda na ovogo- dišnjem „Španskom metru“. Festival „Španski metar“ (Hispanometraje), u organizaciji Instituta „Servantes“, bi- će održan od 27. maja do 3. juna u Be- ogradu i Novom Sadu. Svečano otvaranje u Dvorani Kulturnog centra Beograda obeležiće film „Nede- lje“ (Los domingos) koji je osvojio pet nagrada Goja, uključujući i onu glavnu – za najbolji film. Radnja prati Ainaru, mladu devojku koja se nalazi na važnoj životnoj prekretnici jer mora da odluči koji će fakultet biti njen izbor za stu- diranje. Međutim, dok njeni prijatelji istražuju radosti i nemire adolescencije, Ainaru sve više privlači kontemplativni život u katoličkom samostanu. Na jubilarnoj, četrdesetoj dodeli pri- znanja španske Akademije za filmsku umetnost i nauku nagradu za glavnu mušku ulogu dobio je Hose Ramon So- rois, koji je oduševio i publiku i kritiku ulogom u drami „Maspalomas“. Ovo je dirljivi film koji istražuje teme seksu- alnosti u kasnijim godinama, identite- ta i porodičnih odnosa, a glavni junak filma je Visente, autovani gej muškarac u sedamdesetim godinama, koji uživa u svim čarima turističkog odmarališta Maspalomas na ostrvu Gran Kanarija.
