&/#3&'r#3*&'4 NEW AMBULANCE DIRECTOR Marc-André Périard is no longer deputy-chief for the Prescott-Russell Ambulance Service. He is now the new director of emergency services for the United Counties of Prescott and Russell (UCPR). He replaces Michel Chrétien, who will soon be retiring. UCPR council confirmed Périard’s appointment during its September 25 session. – Gregg Chamberlain FUNDING AID REQUEST Prescott-Russell Community Services has asked the United Counties of Pres- cott and Russell (UCPR) for $40,000 in support funding aid for its community social programs, which serve almost 2500 residents in the region. Police also outlined that children should trick or treat as a group and always share the route they will be taking with parents or guardians.

Lastly, children are encouraged to stay in a familiar neighbourhood and only go to homes that are well lit. They should also never go inside a house and should always have their treats inspected by their parents before eating them. Motorists are also reminded to drive with caution and be on the lookout for trick or treaters throughout the afternoon and evening.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is warning parents that although fun, Halloween can also be potentially dangerous. A recently issued news release lists several safety tips: “Carry a flashlight and select a costume with bright colours and reflective material to increase visibility to
