My volunteering with the Santa Maria Elks Rodeo started a few years back when my daughter, Hannah, won the Miss Mini title in 2018, after that I was hooked. I enjoyed it so much that I volunteered to take on the roll as committee chairman for the annual Miss Mini and Jr. Barrelman contests along with becoming the committee chair for Boots in the Stands, where I oversee local youth organizations go through the Rodeo grandstands at each rodeo performance collecting donations in cowboy boots for the Golden Circle of Champions Pediatric Awareness Non-profit program. I have also had the pleasure of assisting with the growth of the Golden Circle of Champions programs here at home along with at the National Rodeo Finals in Las Vegas. My daughter Ashley ran for Elks Rodeo Queen in 2022 and since then I have had the opportunity to assist many Santa Maria Elks Rodeo Princesses during their campaigns. With so much help needed during the months leading up to the rodeo I also offer assistance at the office with various tasks in preparation for the big event. Outside of the rodeo, I have worked at an elementary school for the past 15 years, helping to shape the lives of thousands of local youth, along with supporting my girls and family friends that raise pigs each year for the Santa Barbara County Fair. In my free time away from the rodeo, I enjoy road trips with my husband Rich, who supports me as I focus on my passion of helping others. Sunday Performance Dedication CHERI PALIN
