In Loving Memory JOHN (JOHNNY) MARETTI March 18, 1951 - November 12, 2024

John (Johnny) Maretti, born in Santa Maria, California, was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and community leader. As a Santa Maria Native, he was a proud fourth-generation member of the Swiss-Italian Maretti family and spent much of his early years in Guadalupe, California. It was there where he formed the foundation of his life-long connection to the local community. Johnny’s work ethic was second to none, as he managed his businesses he operated for over 30 years. While raising his 3 children, Kelli, Justin and Tyler with his wife Lynne, he also gave back to the community. He volunteered as a coach for youth sports, including softball, baseball, basketball and football. He was along time supporter of local organizations, including 4-H, Elks Recreation/Rodeo, and fundraising efforts for St. Joseph High School and the Boys and Girls Club of Santa Maria. Johnny’s commitment to his community never wavered. From 1987 to 1999, Johnny started volunteering for the Elks Rodeo as Chairman for the Rodeo dances and bars that were held at the Convention Center at the old Rodeo grounds. After taking a brief hiatus, in 2013 he received an “out of the blue” phone call from Tina Tonascia, asking him to return as Chairman to help manage the bars in the current location at the Elks Recreation/RodeoGrounds. He loved the Elks Rodeo, but due to health issues, he resigned his position as Chairman after the 2021 Elks Rodeo. He was also Chairman of the Beard-a-Reno contest held at the Santa Maria Elks Lodge for many years. Johnny was the Elks Lodge 1538 Club Manager for almost 9 years, from April 2014 to November 2022. He was a member of Elks Lodge 1538 for 39 years. He was also a member of 2 Men’s Trail rides, the Vaqueros de los Rancheros and the Coors-A-Dores, of which he served as Secretary/Treasurer for over 25 years.

Johnny’s passing leaves a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and the community he served so selflessly. His legacy will live on through the lives he touched and the values he instilled in those who knew him best.
