in leading some great sessions at the WWMA in Scottsdale, Arizona. In addition, I would like to thank Tim Chesser for hosting the SWMA in North Little Rock, Arkansas. Tim, Ms. Sharon, and his staff showed all who attended nothing but southern hospitality. I want to again say thanks to all who made my stay at both fall meetings enjoyable and productive. It was wonderful to see members that might not always make it to our two NCWM meetings. As I attended three out of the four regional meetings, I noticed a problem with the process of presenting items in “batches” that our committees began doing in recent years. First, I want to say that we, the board, appreciated the committee’s thoughts to streamline the process of the opening hearings. However, it appeared that people were confused and could not follow the items being discussed within a “batch” because they were scattered throughout the printed agenda. This resulted in very little discussion of the items. To address this last fall, I had asked the NEWMA Laws and Regulations Committee chair, Lou Sakin, to try something different with batching and put the information in a chronological order in the printed agenda so members could follow the items. It worked very well so when Pub 15 came out this year, NCWM tried blocking related items. I as well as other members found this easier to follow. We at NCWM will continue to refine our process with the help of recommendations from the Charter Team and you, our members.

Dear NCWM Members,

We have been on the move since leaving Pittsburgh in July. In my address on the last day of the conference, I spoke about strengthening the FALS Subcommittee and we have by adding nine new members from the public side and a new chair. Thank you to the states that stepped forward with additional volunteers and to Bill Striejewske for chairing this subcommittee. Another one of my points was to help strengthen our regional groups and committees. In saying that, the CWMA reached out to Don Onwiler requesting training on committee processes. In October, Don presented a regional training session for the Central region and it went extremely well. Seeing how well that went, I did a similar training at NEWMA also in October. My goal, with the support of the board, is to keep strengthening our regional members because they are the future leaders of our conference. We also had two great fall regional annual meetings. Many thanks to Michelle Wilson and her outstanding staff for being fabulous hosts and to Kevin Merritt from Idaho, as president
