Panthères d’Embrun. Casselman mène donc la série 1-0. Les deux équipes devaient s’affronter le 6 mars dernier et ils seront de nouveau sur la glace du complexe JR Brisson le 8 mars à 19h30. Panthères contre Golden Knights Si les Panthères se retrouvent à affronter les Vikings en série, c’est parce qu’ils ont remporté leur mini-série contre les Golden Knights d’Ottawa West la semaine dernière. Cette série se voulait une Wild Card, c’est- à-dire que l’équipe qui remportait deux parties affronterait les Vikings en séries. Bien que les Panthères tiraient de l’arrière 1-0 après un premier affrontement, l’équipe a su s’imposer pour remporter les deux matchs suivants. Le 28 février, les Panthères ont remporté le match avec un pointage de 3-2. L’issue de cette rencontre s’est déterminée après deux périodes de prolongation. C’est Jacob Lamont qui a compté le but gagnant. Le lendemain, bien que les équipes se soient livré un match serré en termes de tirs au but, avec 40 du côté d’Embrun et 38 pour Ottawa West, les Panthères sont repartis avec une victoire de 3-1, mettant ainsi fin à la saison de l’équipe d’Ottawa West.
L’affrontement en série des Panthères d’Embrun et des Vikings de Casselman a débuté dimanche dernier et les Vikings n’ont laissé aucune place à l’équipe d’Embrun lors de cette première rencontre ! Le match qui a eu lieu au Complexe JR Brisson s’est terminé au compte de 8-0 pour les Vikings. En tout, ceux-ci ont effectué 45 tirs au but contre 24 du côté d’Embrun. Les joueurs des Vikings Sébastien Plante et Oliver Brunet ont donné le ton au match en première période, en comptant chacun un but à quelques secondes d’intervalles. Dès la première minute de la deuxième période, Carter Malette a ajouté un troi- sième but pour l’équipe de Casselman. Deux autres buts ont ensuite été comptés par Joel Hunt et, une fois de plus, Carter Malette des Vikings. Puis, en dernière période, trois autres buts pour Casselman ont été marqués par Brady Cloutier, Sébastien Plante et Brendan Doherty. Le match s’est terminé avec une punition majeure pour Noah Johnston des Twelve Eastern Ontario broom- ball teams brought home eight medals from the 2018 Federations of Broomball Association of Ontario Provincial Championships. The tournament took place in Barrie, from Friday, February 9 to Sunday, February 11. The twelve Eastern teams represented over 180 young athletes from ages 8 to 19 years old from Russell, Finch and Carleton Place. A total of 49 teams competed in this year’s provincial championships and the twelve Eastern teams managed to bring home eight medals. Peewee, Bantam, Midget and Juvenile teams from Eastern Ontario participated in the tournament. The Peewee division was a mixed boy and girl division with 8-to 12-year olds. There were 12 teams in the division and the three Eastern teams brought home two medals. The Eastern Rebels defended their Provincial Championship title and brought home the gold medal with a four-game
The series clash between the Embrun Panthers and the Casselman Vikings started last Sunday and the Vikings left no place for the Embrun team in this first game! The match at the JR Brisson Complex ended with a score of 8-0 for the Vikings. Casselman leads the series 1-0. The two teams were scheduled to play each other on March 6 and will be on the ice again at JR Brisson on March 8 at 7:30 pm. —photo archives
EASTERN ONTARIO BROOMBALL TEAMS BRING HOME SOME MEDALS
Douze équipes de ballon sur glace de l’Est ont remporté huit médailles aux Championnats provinciaux des fédérations de l’Association de ballon sur glace de l’Ontario de 2018. Le tournoi a eu lieu à Barrie, du vendredi 9 février au dimanche 11 février. Les douze équipes de l’Est représentaient plus de 180 jeunes athlètes âgés de 8 à 19 ans de Russell, Finch et Carleton Place. Ici on peut reconnaître l’équipe mixte garçons et filles Peewee, « Eastern Rebels », qui a remporté la médaille d’or dans leur division —photo fournie
NCJHL AWARDS The NCJHL announced its 2018 season awards list. Ryan Wells, of the Saint- Isidore Aigles, was named Most Sports- manlike Player in the league. The North Dundas Rockets collected the most individual players’ honours this year with Bryden van Kessell named Regular Season Most Valuable Player and Best Defenceman , Justin Lefebvre the Rookie of the Year, Nik Paas and Lenard McLean sharing the Coach of the Year award, and Robyn Sadler named Executive of the Year . Miguel D’Aoust of the Cumberland Bandits was named Best Goaltender . Patti Laframboise of the Morrisburg Lions club received the Bedard Family Award . – Gregg Chamberlain

The Ball Broomers, on the other hand, fought hard, but were knocked out of the tourna- ment in an overtime game. The Bantam boys’ team, the Stealths, brought home silver after playing seven games. The Warriors, the Bantam girls’ team, secured the bronze medal in their divi- sion. The Midget girls’ team, the Stealths, defended their Provincial Championship title
and won the gold for the fourth consecutive year. The Midget boys’ team, the Eastern Warriors, fell short of bringing home a medal. The juvenile teams won their fair share of medals as well. The girls’ Seaway Valley Devils team earned the silver medal, while Sting boys’ team brought home gold and the Valley Gamblers boys’ team took the silver. The Eastern Thunder girls and the boys’ team, the Warriors, didn’t qualify for a medal.
