Object Lesson A N ew V iew a n d a T rue V iew OBJECTS: A ' cross, a capital “I,” and a pair of scissors. (First make an “F” by using a piece of stiff paper 20x24 inches. Fold, making the size 10x24. Along a line one inch from the folded side, cut upward for 15 inches to make the upright. The small cross bar should be 15 inches from the bot tom, 4 inches in its horizontal meas urement, and 2 inches deep. The top bar should be 2 inches deep, and should extend 9 inches horizontally. There is to be a one inch hook extending up as well as down from the end of the-top bar, making a perfect “I” when the top bar is cut off. Color this “F” gold. Open and color the cross red. The “l” should be colored black on the in side. Before the lesson, cut the “I” away from the “F” and open, leaving a red cross. Thumbtack the cross and the “ I” to the blackboard, with the “I” on top.) LESSON: This “ I” and cross are in tended to remind us of a verse in the Bible. Can any of you recall the verse? “I am crucified with Christ” (Gal. 2 : 20 ). Yes, that is the verse which I had in mind. It was a new thought for the Galatian Christians, as well as it is for many Christians today. In the sight of God, all Christians are crucified with Christ. In order that we may understand our relationship to Christ, let us read the rest of the verse. It is important to know that Paul said the new life which he was living was by the faith of Christ. It was something which could not be seen with his eyes; but had to be accepted by faith. To make us remember that faith entered into Paul’s life, and should en ter into our lives, we will fold the cross and the “I,” and place them to gether, making a golden “F.” If we Christians want our lives to be helpful, we must recognize that we are cruci fied with Christ, and live by FAITH.
