According to authorities, Jeffrey Horton, age 63, was fatally injured when the 2008 Ford F350 that he was driving left the roadway and struck a tree. Horton later succumbed to his injures and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The crash occurred on Cullman County 648 near Cullman County 649, approximately 10 miles south of Hanceville Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate. A two-vehicle crash at approximately 7:33 p.m. on November 1, has claimed the life of a Remlap woman. Kali M. Heaton, age 31, was fatally injured when the 2010 Mazda 3 she was driving collided head-on with the 2023 Ford Ranger driven by Joshua Cory Dean Carr, age 44, of Arab. Heaton was pronounced dead at the scene. Carr was injured and airlifted to UAB Hospital in Birmingham for medical treatment. The crash occurred on Alabama 79 near the 26 mile marker, approximately three miles southwest of Locust Fork, in Blount County. Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate. A single-vehicle crash at approximately 11:30 a.m. on October 27, has claimed the life of a Springville juvenile. The 16-year-old was fatally injured when the 2018 Chevrolet Malibu the teen was driving left the roadway, struck an embankment, overturned and caught fire. The 16-year-old was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. A 15-year-old passenger in the Chevrolet, who also was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash, was ejected and airlifted to an area hospital for medical treatment. The crash occurred on Alabama 132 near the 9 mile marker, approximately one mile west of Altoona, in Blount County. Nothing further is available as Troopers with ALEA continue to investigate. A single-vehicle crash at approximately 7 a.m. on October 24, has claimed the life of a Fort Payne juvenile. The 15-year-old was fatally injured when the 2014 Toyota Tacoma the teen was driving left the roadway, struck several trees, a large boulder and then entered a pond. On October 25, the Toyota and the teen were both located submerged in the pond. The teen was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash occurred on Dekalb County 485, approximately three miles north of Fort Payne, Nothing further is available as State Troopers with ALEA continue to investigate.
