Founded in London in 1995, NewAngle is a digital design company creating audio-visual software for museums, visitor attractions and cultural organisations. Its highly experienced teamproducemulti-user games, purpose-shot films, large-scale projections, soundscapes, immersive environments and interactive experiences that connect people with stories and knowledge in exciting ways. The company has steadily built its business over the years, forging strong relationships with major institutions around the world who have called upon NewAngle to enhance their visitor offering with engaging interactive experiences. In 2019, NewAngle was awarded the Royal Warrant by Appointment to HM The Queen as a supplier of digital media services. However, it is for
outstanding growth in international trade that the firm has been honoured with a Queen’s Award for Enterprise. “We are absolutely delighted to receive this prestigious award - it’s very rewarding to be recognised for all our hard work,” says company director Beverley Garrett. The company’s first major international project - for the National Charter Monument in Bahrain - was won as part of a UK consortium. One of the first British digital media companies to deliver such a large cultural project in the region, NewAngle has gone on to fulfil several significant commissions in the Middle East, with its two most recent regional projects perfectly reflecting the scope of the company’s capability and ambition. The Atturaif Living Museum in Riyadh is a UNESCO World Heritage site that brings the Saudi State’s early history back to life. Joining the project
Another exhibit features a 25-metre video wall introducing visitors to the historical and cultural significance of Atturaif in a stunning eight-minute film. In Kuwait, NewAngle developed 90 dual- language exhibits for the Space Museum at the Sheikh Abdullah Al Salem Cultural Centre, including a bespoke planetarium show which was recently shortlisted for four international awards. The company also created 20 exhibits for the Arabic Islamic Science Museum and project managed the software production for the entire multi-museum site. NewAngle’s work is diverse in scale and subject matter. For the Vitra Design Museum in Germany, the company created a film installation about the life and work of designer, author and activist Victor Papanek. Agility, economy and portability are key factors for many heritage institutions today and the Papanek work was designed as a touring eight-screen structure that can be easily packed up and rebuilt at any venue. Beverley adds: “International projects give us the opportunity to create exciting and innovative visitor experiences and, from an intellectual perspective, we gain insights into new cultures, meet new nationalities and learn new stories.” NewAngle continues to look to the international market with new projects lined up in the US and the Middle East. Atturaif. These include a virtual 3D model of the 18th century palace of the House of Saud,
and - at the Horse Museum - a virtual racing game with
horses galloping across the Arabian Peninsula.
