The Queen's Awards Magazine 2021

Illingworth Research Group

Illingworth Research Group™, now a Syneos Health Company®, is thrilled to receive a Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the category of International Trade. Illingworth Research is a specialist provider of patient-centric clinical research solutions that support clinical trial delivery. Illingworth Research provides mobile research nursing, patient concierge and medical imaging solutions, all designed with the patient in mind. The company had grown steadily and organically over the three-year period of the submission, but the pandemic brought a particularly high demand for services. Research sites were closed, leaving patients with a dilemma: drop out of the study or risk visiting the site when it did reopen for research to continue. Illingworth was able to step in and provide a lifeline. Mobile research nurses were COVID-19 tested regularly, and additional calls were made to patients before and after visits to ensure they did not have symptoms. These additional measures granted patients and pharmaceutical providers the services they needed to continue their vital research. An adaptable approach Mobile research nursing provides patients with the opportunity to have some of their clinical trial visits conducted in their home, or other safe environment. This reduces patient burden and enables the patients to continue their normal lives while still contributing to the research they are often incredibly passionate about. Illingworth is the world’s longest established international provider of this research solution and prides itself on making clinical trials inclusive for all to participate. To ensure safety for all, Illingworth mobile research nurses are all highly experienced, Good Clinical Practice trained nurses who work to a global set of standard operating procedures. This approach allows Illingworth to deliver a consistent solution for patients and pharmaceutical company sponsors across the world.

Nurse walking through visit

is focused on lessening the impact of clinical trial participation on patients and their families by taking care of travel to and from hospital, managing fast expense reimbursement and more. It helps to avert dropouts that happen for avoidable reasons, relieving pressure on clinical trial sites and providing a duty of care to patients. Leading the way Medical imaging can be used in circumstances where there is an image endpoint. Traditionally, this is largely in dermatological indications, such as wound healing, but this is diversifying as technology continues to develop. Specialist calibrated equipment and validated analysis processes can now enable imagery to be a vital part of the study data. John Illingworth, Chairman, commented on this remarkable achievement: “To be awarded this prestigious award for our sustained achievements and consistent organic growth is something we are all incredibly proud of. “The passion and dedication of all our employees continues to ensure we can deliver solutions that support patients wanting to participate in clinical research, whatever their background or geography, while focusing on reducing the patient burden. This award from The Queen will help enable Illingworth to continue to deliver its mission of making clinical research accessible for all.” Illingworth Research Group Hazelwood House, Tytherington Business Park, Larkwood Way, Macclesfield SK10 2XR Tel: 01625 617447 • info@illingworthresearch.com www.illingworthresearch.com @illingworthrsch illingworth-research @Illingworth_research
