Back in 1966, when these prestigious awards were instigated by HM The Queen, companies could apply to win in the categories of Export, Technology, or a combination of the two. In 2000, the awards were renamed The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise, and the Technology category was updated to become Innovation, to better reflect developments in UK manufacturing and homegrown businesses. Today, the Innovation entries continue to be consistently strong, with more than 60 awards in this category awarded last year to businesses in recognition of their outstanding achievements. The general eligibility criteria for The Queen’s Awards can be found on the website https://www.gov.uk/queens- awards-for-enterprise/eligibility.
