PAST WINNER INTERVIEW Adnams
What planning did you do beforehand?
What made Adnams apply for a Queen’s Award?
The questions are clear and unambiguous; we made sure that we made the decision to apply well before the submission date, thereby enabling us to complete everything in full in good time.
The Queen’s Award is the epitome of recognition for business. We were keen that we should continue to share our achievements that are making a difference with others to demonstrate that sustainable success makes business sense. It is also wonderful recognition for our teams who work tirelessly to not only come up with more innovative ways to reduce our impact on our environment but also champion new ways of thinking and sharing and helping others. What research did you do about the awards/ application process? The process isn’t onerous. It takes some time and focus but I wouldn’t expect anything less. The rigour of the process is why the Awards are the so prestigious. We won two previous Queen’s Awards in 2008 and 2012. Everything you need is online and the team are incredibly helpful should you have any questions.
How did you find the application process?
The process was easy and simple; it is not overtly onerous. Did you learn anything about your own company during the process? It is a useful exercise to look and talk about your business from a different point of view. Our business is complex and there is a lot we do that we consider normal, when in fact it is extraordinary to others.
