TELFAIR MUSEUMS CLASSES & CLUBS
STUDIO CLASS PROGRAM FOR KIDS & ADULTS The Telfair Museums offers classes for kids and adults in various media and techniques. These Studio classes fill a niche in the community, offering a nurturing, creative environment and a wonderful opportunity to advance artistic interests. Adult studio classes are tailored to reinforce museum exhibition themes and/or concepts. These programs are geared toward both absolute beginners and advanced professionals. Part of the Studio class program provides time and space for local artists to gather as a community and practice their art. Practice makes perfect—the tricky part of making is not always the “how to,” but sometimes just the “when.” We refer to these programs as Art Clubs.
ART CLUBS
The Telfair Museum supports three art clubs weekly: a Studio, a Life Drawing, and an Outdoor Painting ”plein Air” group. Artists work independently in a quiet and safe social setting, giving guidance and encouragement to each other. The studio group meets on Wednesdays. Artists are encouraged to work according to their desires from photo references or imagination, but most take the time to practice from still life. The life drawing group meets on Thursdays to draw and paint from nude models. The class builds from quick warm-up gesture drawings to longer ones, providing more time for developed work. The plein air group gathers in a new location every Friday to paint the landscape that makes this community so beautiful.
