The Telesitter Program, launched in 2021, has avoided nearly 200 falls. New Knowledge, Innovations and Improvements We’re integrating evidence-based practice into patient care and encouraging nursing research and quality improvement projects.
Many of these projects were presented at conferences or published in academic journals. Supported by an engaged Nursing Quality Council, Wellstar continues to focus on process improvement and standardizing best practices in fiscal year 2025. We plan to expand mentoring programs to improve nurse retention, while creating additional academic partnerships that enhance recruitment and retention. Eleven Wellstar hospitals are currently on the ANCC Journey of Excellence, with dedicated teams striving to achieve the highest levels of nursing excellence and patient care. n
Credentialing Center’s Magnet® standards, Wellstar made notable progress in improving turnover rates, staffing levels and the quality of nursing care. Specific achievements include work in the following four key components: Transformational Leadership We filled four Chief Nursing positions and welcomed a System Vice President for Professional Nursing Practice. Our nursing turnover rate decreased from 14.3% to 12.7%, compared with a national benchmark of 18%. EXEMPLARY PRACTICE Lantern Award shines light on emergency department brilliance WELLSTAR PAULDING MEDICAL CENTER Wellstar Paulding Medical Center Emergency Department has earned the Emergency Nurses Association’s (ENA) 2024 Lantern Award for demonstrating excellence in leadership, practice, education, advocacy and research performance. This is their second consecutive three-year designation. The award serves as a visible symbol of the commitment to quality, safety and a healthy work environment. n
