The OPP are going to try something dif- ferent to see what turns up for clues in the case of hit-and-run victim, Jessica Godin. The 18-year-old woman was killed by a hit-and-run driver in Fournier inThe Nation Municipality in 2011. Her body was found in a ditch and attempts so far, including posting a $50,000 reward, to get leads on the driver responsible for her death have failed. Police, with the help of a Toronto forensic specialist, recreated the fatal accident scene on July 2 at the very location in Fournier where Godin died. The hope is that having a «fresh set of eyes» looking at the case may turn up some new possible leads. Police also hope the reconstruction will turn up other clues that might help them determine who

Drunk drivers charged Police have two impaired driving cases added to their files for the end of June in Russell County. Maxime Jerome, 31, of Clarence- Rockland, was charged after police res- ponded to a report June 23 of a single- vehicle accident on County Road 8 in The Nation. Police found Jerome’s vehicle off the road in the ditch somewhere between the Route 200 and Route 300 intersections. Jerome was taken to the detachment for an Intoxilyzer test. Based on the results and other investigation, police charged him with impaired driving, driving with a blood- alcohol level exceeding 80milligrams, and also with possession of a minor amount of marijuana. He was scheduled for the July 8 provincial court session in L’Orignal. Impaired driver Police received a call June 27 about a suspected impaired driver onNotre-Dame Road in Embrun. A patrol found the suspect vehicle and pulled it over. The driver was taken to the detachment for an Intoxilyzer test. Brett Meredith, 28, of Gatineau, QC, is chargedwith impaired driving and driving with a blood-alcohol level exceeding 80 milligrams. He is scheduled for the July 15 provincial court session in L’Orignal. Business burglary Police are asking for assistance fromresi- dents with a business burglary case. The Embrun detachment received a call June 22 about a break-and-enter at Bytown Lumber on Calypso Road. The break-in took place sometime overnight and an unspecified amount of cash was taken. Anyone with information about the break-in can call Const. Tammy Barnes at the Embrun OPP detachment at 613-443- 4499 or the CrimeStoppers confidential tips line at, toll-free, 1-800-222-8477. Godin was staying at a friend’s house in Fournier on Sept. 22 until she left the prem- ises after 6 p.m. She was last seen alive be- tween 7 and 8 :15 p.m. in the Parc Street area. Her body was found two days later in a ditch along the road.The nature of her injuries and the position of her body indicated she had been hit by a vehicle and flung into the ditch. Almost five years have passed since her death and no one has come forward to claim responsibility. A $50,000 reward for informa- tion leading to a solution is still active.
