Dear Friends and Customers, As we write this letter, it is hard to believe that we have had Angus cattle on this ranch for 75 years and this will be our 50th Annual Production Sale. It seems like it took some time to have the cattle market that we have today. It has sure been worth the wait even though it took 75 years and coming up on our 50th sale. pleased with their gain since weaning. Their average daily gain was 3.64 lbs. per day with an average projected yearling weight of 1432 lbs. Their average adjusted weaning weight was 850 lbs. I’m sure that the performance in these cattle today would have been hard to imagine 50 or 75 years ago. Driving the science of better breeding through genetic selection has been a source of improvement as well as good old cowboy logic and perseverance. The technology that we have today has made our results a lot easier to come by and enjoy at the same time. This set of bulls is very unique in the fact that a number of sires are represented however they are very consistent in type and kind. We have strived to select and breed for cattle that meet our criteria for structural soundness, performance and look. We strive to produce qual- ity in the offering, cattle that have the type and look that command attention when they enter the sale ring. Cattle that gain you a reputation and make you proud as well as prosperous. Only in recent years have we begun to write footnotes for the offering. In the past we provided individual performance information, carcass ultrasound data, EPDs and relied on the offering to sell themselves and they had done that very well. With the advent of DNA testing for genomic-enhanced EPDs, we are able to identify certain traits the individuals excel in with increased predictability. For your benefit, we have identified individual traits where they rank in the higher percentile of the breed. Whether it be growth, maternal, carcass, calving ease, foot structure, fertility or $ values, there are certain individuals that excel in a number of various traits and are identified as such. The bulls have been developed on a sound growing ration with complete performance and carcass information. All bulls and females have been DNA tested under the ANGUS GS program for enhanced EPDs, parentage verification and are free of genetic defects. They will be fertility tested by a licensed veterinarian, accompanied with a breeding certificate and delivered to your ranch after April 1st at no charge with a freeze brand and footrot shot. The females being offered are all those that calve after April 1st regardless of the exceptional attributes that they may have. The sale offering will be sorted and penned on display for your evaluation. The cattle will be sold in catalog order via big screen TV in our heated sale barn. A video of the entire offering will be on our website as well as on www.dvaution.com. We have provided a number of photos as well to view in the event if you wish to bid online. In closing, we appreciate your support in the past and look forward to working with you in the future, whether you have been a customer in the past or are here for the first time.
