BE PREPARED - GET YOUR WALLS READY

STEP 4

Plan: Work out the amount of paint you will need so you don’t run out. Try out our paint calculator at www.sandtex.ie. STEP 1

Stabilise: Once your walls are dry check the surface for any chalky areas and

seal the surface with Stabilising Solution.

Repair: Fill cracks Masonry Filler. Using a knife or spreader fill the crack and allow to dry. Sand smooth before painting. STEP 5

Tools: Make sure you have all the tools you need, ladder, brushes & rollers, a roller tray, gloves and a dust sheet to protect the ground. STEP 2

STEP 6

STEP 3

Final check: Check the weather forecast, your walls will need to be dry before you start and you’ll need to allow 3 - 4 days, assuming a team of two, for an average house. Move the car and protect the drive and you’re good to go.

Clean: Remove all dirt dust and loose material. Treat organic growth with Fungicidal Solution, clean off all the walls, a pressure washer will give best results.

Never cut corners, a little longer on prep saves in the long run

A lways paint when the temperature is above 8°c to ensure the paint will dry effectively.

Brickwork remains popular on Irish homes, whether it’s a fully brick built house, or has brick or stone features. Just like your plastered walls, your brick or stone work needs protection from the elements. Brickwork Waterproofer and Protector is a ready to use silicone sealer forming a water repellent barrier, protecting against damaging effects of rain, frost and ice.
