Health and Wellbeing

Our Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists are a key part of school life. They work onsite, offering support that is practical, responsive, and tailored to each child. Our therapists not only provide individual or small- group sessions, but also train and upskill staff so that every member of the team feels confident in supporting children’s communication, independence, and daily living skills.

We offer three levels of support: Universal Offer – Ensuring all children can participate in school life and learning by removing, where possible, barriers to learning. This includes providing the necessary systems, equipment, and support so every child can thrive. Targeted Offer – Everyday activities such as snack time, mealtimes, play, or community visits are carefully adapted to build specific skills naturally and engagingly. Specialist Offer – Led by the child’s EHCP and therapist-identified needs, the therapy team provide 1:1 therapy and written class-based programmes designed and monitored by therapists, and delivered by classroom staff to meet individual needs.

For the children living within our residential home, therapy is embedded into a 24/7 waking day curriculum. This means therapeutic strategies are woven into every part of a child’s day, from morning routines to evening activities, ensuring consistency, generalisation of skills, and a truly holistic, bespoke approach to the development of skills. By working together in this way, we make sure every child receives the right support at the right time, helping them to achieve their full potential and develop maximum independence with their communication and life skills.
