Excellent skills appropriate to the management of a service department: (Leading staff on shifts and normal hours; business planning and resource management; chairing skills; budget management and control; report writing; time and project management and quality enhancement). Human Resource Management and development. Strong influencing, communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate a clear vision for a wide range of audiences in a variety of media. Ability to negotiate effectively with external and internal stakeholders, suppliers and consultants. Skills in change management in particular the human resource development aspects of enabling change. Demonstrate a commitment to supporting the development of others. Project leadership and management skills. Ability to problem solve from day-to-day operations to more complex strategic or process issues. Demonstrable knowledge of good practice and guidance relating to effective security management. Understanding the context for the provision of security in a city centre higher education environment. Strong customer-service ethos and ability to embed a service culture throughout Security staff. Good strategic and operational understanding of Prevent. A degree or relevant professional or vocational qualification. Membership of a relevant professional body. A demonstrable personal profile of continuous professional development. Proven record of strong leadership and management of a Security department working in a similar environment. Demonstrable commitment to customer satisfaction and a proven record of developing customer focused staff. Proven record of providing a value for money, fit for purpose security infrastructure. Experience in managing/monitoring budgets and staff deployment. Experience of negotiating, managing and monitoring external contracts. Previous experience of being a Prevent Safeguarding Officer and/or lead contact for all Prevent related inquiries. Candidates should be able to travel as necessary within the UK and if necessary overseas. Candidates must be prepared attend the University at any time in order to respond to critical incidents and emergencies.
