THE TRUTH BEHIND YOUR DENTAL HEALTH Unlearn These Common Dental Myths on Opposite Day!
If you haven’t heard, Jan. 25 is Opposite Day, and while it may not be the most celebrated day of the year, it does give me a chance to do things a bit differently. I often share helpful
What happens is that treatment is broken into two parts and fees are lowered for each part because we care! We never recommend early treatment unless it absolutely serves a great purpose for the patient and their health.
information and dental tips with you, but for this special occasion, I thought I would highlight advice I would never give you or any of my patients! These tall tales can easily be debunked, and if you hear someone repeat them, then know you should do the exact opposite.
‘STAY AWAY FROM BLEEDING GUMS WHEN BRUSHING.’ Absolutely false! You actually need to focus more on these areas. It is not
normal for your gums to bleed, and it can signal your oral health is lacking wherever you bleed. Give these spots extra care and schedule an appointment with your dentist to resolve the issue as soon as possible. ‘BRUSHING HARDER CLEANS YOUR TEETH BETTER!’ Brushing your teeth with extra force does much more harm than good. When you
‘INVISALIGN IS MORE EXPENSIVE THAN BRACES.’ The truth is that Invisalign is often less expensive than braces. Unlike braces,
Invisalign requires fewer appointments, and the duration of treatment is finished faster! Even the materials needed to make the liners are cheaper since they’re made of medical-grade plastic instead of metal and brackets.
brush your teeth too harshly, you can damage tooth enamel over time, which can cause increased dental sensitivity. I recommend brushing gently for two minutes with a soft-bristled toothbrush and focusing around the gum line instead of just on the teeth.
‘YOU’RE PROBABLY NOT A CANDIDATE FOR INVISALIGN.’ At our practice, we can assure you that everyone is a candidate for invisalign. Dr. Alborzi’s expertise allows her to use invisalign for any type of treatment at any age. Even at age 7 a child can be treated with invisalign, and they actually love it and do very well with it. If you have active gum disease or multiple cavities, these issues should be treated first and then we can introduce Invisalign. ‘YOU’LL PAY DOUBLE IF YOU TAKE YOUR CHILD TO THE ORTHODONTIST TOO YOUNG.’ I often hear parents with younger children worry that their kids will have to do treatments twice (and have to pay for them twice). The reality is that no two mouths are the same, and just because another child needed treatment twice doesn’t mean yours will. Some parents even want to wait until their children are older to come to the orthodontist, but we need to determine their dental health early to prevent any issues later on.
It’s essential to know the facts regarding your health, and I hope these tidbits of truth can help
you take better care of your teeth in the future. If you ever need any
clarification on dental health and oral care, my team and I are here for you!

The Price of Missing Your Regular Cleanings Discover the Costly Consequences of Skipping Check-Ups
Regular dental cleanings play a crucial role in maintaining not just a white smile but also your overall health. While many people choose not to have regular cleanings for financial reasons, the cost of not going can be much higher. Regular cleanings and checkups significantly prevent a range of oral health issues and can even save you money in the long run. PREVENT GUM DISEASE AND CAVITIES. One of the primary reasons everyone should schedule routine dental cleanings is to prevent gum disease. Plaque builds up on teeth over time and, if not removed, can harden into tartar. Tartar buildup is a leading cause of gum disease, which can first appear as gingivitis, making your gums red, swollen, and bleeding. Frequent cleanings effectively remove plaque and tartar, helping to prevent gum disease and its progression to more severe conditions. Additionally, dental cleanings are essential in preventing cavities. Even with a thorough at-home cleaning routine, certain areas of the mouth may be challenging to reach and clean. Professional cleanings get these difficult spots, ensuring plaque removal and reducing the risk of cavities.
CARE FOR YOUR OVERALL HEALTH. Beyond oral health, recurring dental cleanings can have plenty of overall health benefits. Research has shown a direct link between gum disease and various health conditions, including heart disease, diabetes, and respiratory infections. By maintaining optimal oral health through regular cleanings, you can lower the risk of these potentially serious health issues. For those concerned about costs, preventing these health risks can also save you a fortune. AVOID FUTURE (PRICIER) ISSUES. A dental cleaning appointment is not just about plaque and tartar removal. It’s also an opportunity for your dentist to detect early signs of potential dental issues. Regular check-ups can detect early signs of oral cancer and other conditions when they are more manageable, less painful, less expensive, and less invasive to treat. By investing in these routine appointments, you are not only preserving your teeth and gums but safeguarding your broader health and saving money. So, make that appointment, and save yourself the hassle in the long run!

5 Proven Strategies for Cost-Effective Travel
Traveling can be an enriching and fulfilling experience, but it can also be costly. Many people dream of exploring new destinations,
and LivingSocial offer various deals that could be useful during your trip. These websites often provide discounted tickets to attractions, cheaper dining options, and even discounted rates for experiences like spa treatments or outdoor activities.
but financial constraints can be limiting. Fortunately, we’re here to share five practical tips to help you save money while enjoying your trip. PLAN AND BUDGET AHEAD. One of the most effective ways to save money is by planning and budgeting your trip in advance. Create a comprehensive budget that includes airfare, accommodation, food, transportation, and activities. Having a budget lets you track your expenses and helps you avoid overspending. You can also take advantage of early bird rates for flights and hotels.
TRAVEL DURING OFF-PEAK SEASONS. Traveling during off-peak seasons will save you money on flights, hotels, and activities. You also benefit from less crowded destinations and shorter queues for popular tourist attractions. This is a win-win for travelers seeking a budget-friendly and less- crowded travel experience.
USE LOCAL GROCERY STORES AND PACK SNACKS. Another way to save money while you travel is by shopping at local grocery stores for snacks and meals rather than eating out for every meal. This gives you a taste of local businesses and culture. Packing snacks can also help you avoid buying overpriced food at airports or touristy areas. By implementing these tips into your travel planning and experience, you can stretch your dollar further without compromising the quality of your trip. Happy traveling!
CANCEL UNNECESSARY SUBSCRIPTIONS. Before you travel, review your monthly subscriptions like gym memberships, streaming services, or magazines you won’t use while you’re away. Temporarily canceling these subscriptions can free up extra cash for your travel fund. LOOK FOR DISCOUNTS AND OFFERS. Keep an eye out for discounts, offers, and coupons that can help you save money on activities, dining, and shopping. Websites like Groupon
