We will open the right side of the letter. We find the word “wisdom,” for which Solomon asked and which God gave. As we further open the letter, we find the word “work.” It was soon after Solomon received God’s wisdom that he began the work of building the temple. After the temple was completed, we read of Solomon’s wor shiping. “And he stood before the altar o f the L ord in the presence of all the congregation of Israel, and spread forth his hands” (2 Chron. 6:12). Opening the last part of the letter we see the word “worship.” S tudy a S tar OBJECTS: A silver star, a picture of a church, a cloud-shaped piece of card board covered with dollar signs, an imitation graduation cap and a pic ture of a couple dancing. LESSON: Here is a silver star to re mind us of the star of Bethlehem which guided the wise men to the baby Jesus. When the wise men came near Jerusalem, they lost sight of the star. Some lose sight of God’s leading before they ever find Christ as Sav iour, just as the wise men lost sight of the star before they reached the place where Jesus was to be found. Jerusalem was a religious city and it could have been that the temple caused them to lose sight of the star. Did you know that some churches keep people from finding Christ as Saviour because they do not teach about Christ’s shedding His blood for us? We will put this picture of a church over the star and hide it, re minding us of the way in which some churches keep people from finding Christ. As clouds often hide stars, so this cloud with dollar signs hides the silver star. Jerusalem was a place of business. Often the getting of wealth has caused some to lose sight of that which might lead them to Christ. This college cap hides the star. Some lose the star of God’s guidance in college. They confuse the profes sor’s theory with scientific fact and

O pening a L etter OBJECT: A piece of paper 41/4 x 11 inches. (Fold in thirds, making the size 41/4 x 3 2/3 inches. Open and put a large “w” on the center panel, us ing a crayon. Fold the right panel over the center, and trace the “w” on it. Fold the left panel over the others and trace the “w.” Cut the outside panels in three horizontal strips, 1 5/12 inches wide. On the inside of the left panel, on the first strip print “no,” on the second “ho” and on the third “bo.” These, coming before the “w” will spell “now, how and bow.”

On the right side, on the first strip print “ isdom,” on the second “ ork” and on the third “ orship.” Coming after the “w” these will spell “wis dom, work and worship.” Fold the right side over the center first.) LESSON: How many of you like to open a letter? I see that nearly all do. The letter we are to open today is one of the strangest you have ever seen. Here it is, the letter “w.” It has an important message inside. In thinking of this letter I want you to remember Solomon, the son of David, who had to rule the nation when David died. He had looked forward to this time and realized that in himself he was not able to rule wisely. However, the time came when he must now take over the duties of king. (Open the first strip on the left.) As we open this letter we see the word “now.” Opening it further, we see Solomon’s next problem “how?” It is beyond him to know how to rule his people. There was only one thing for him to do and that was to ask God. We now see the word “bow.” It is good in a time of need to bow before God and ask wisdom of Him.

It’sASTOUNDING! It’sAMAZING! It’sTRUE! Our file bears out this fact.

$10 invested in Child Evangelism often means that 3 more children will make a first-time decision for Christ (hence $3.33Vb per child). Weigh this against an estimated $10,000 to win one adult for Christ. Helping win children to Christ is a sound investment. Write for information. Ask for FREE copy of Child Evangelism Magazine.
