Oberammergau Passion Play 2030

Nearly 400 Years of Tradition The World famous Oberammergau Passion Play, traditionally held every 10 years, is expected to be performed again throughout summer 2030. The history dates to 1633 when plague swept Bavaria and many lives were lost. The elders vowed that if the village was purged of plague they would perform the ‘Play of the Suffering, Death and Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ’ every 10 years. The epidemic came to a standstill and in 1634 they fulfilled this promise for the first time, remaining faithful to that solemn vow ever since. 2030 will see the 43rd Passion Play season. The play follows the story of Christ’s Passion, beginning with His entry into Jerusalem and ending with His Resurrection and Transfiguration.

Oberammergau Passion Play and Norman Allen Group Travel 2030 will be our seventh Oberammergau season. It follows our very successful tour programmes to the Passion Play in 1980, 1984, 1990, 2000, 2010 and 2022. Tours to this event require careful planning with close attention to detail. We have long experience of the complex procedures in obtaining Oberammergau ‘Arrangements’ and can offer you reassurance of a first class reliable service for your Oberammergau 2030 tours. The 2030 Passion Play Season The first performance is expected to be mid-May 2030 and the final one early October 2030. Following the 2022 programme, it is likely there will be 5 performances per week, with Monday and Wednesday set aside as rest days. The tours we offer will feature an ‘Arrangement’ to include: a 2 night stay with meals in the Ammergau Alps in a choice of accommodation categories, a meal during the play interval and a reserved seat to your selected Passion Play performance. Your tour by coach or air to the Oberammergau Passion Play 2030 We offer Oberammergau combined with a choice of second centre destinations. All tours are tailor‑made to your specification, and are typically between 8 and 15 days duration. Travel is by coach or by air, according to your preference. Popular tour combinations include Oberammergau Passion Play and: • the Austrian Tyrol (eastern Tyrol to include the Wilder Kaiser & Zillertal and the Western Tyrol/Arlberg) • the Alpine Quartet (Feldkirch, on the Austrian/Swiss border, near Lake Constance) • Salzburg and the Austrian Lakes (the Bad Ischl area, close to Salzburg) • the Black Forest (highlights included Titisee and Freiburg)
