Day 1 Travel to your hotel in Dumfries. Day 2 We start our day with a visit to Devil’s Porridge Museum. Hear the story of HM Factory Gretna, the greatest munitions factory on earth in World War One, where ‘the devil’s porridge’ - cordite, was mixed, and explores the stories of the Solway Military Coast during the Second World War and beyond. From here, take the short journey this afternoon, to the award winning Annandale Distillery to enjoy a tour and tasting. Day 3 Meet your guide for the day who will bring the Scottish side of the Solway Firth to life, from beautiful gardens and historic harbours to

connections with Robert Burns, the famous Scottish poet. Day 4 Head to Drumlanrig Castle and Country Estate. Set amongst the rolling hills and woodlands of the Borders, there is plenty to see and do here. Explore the magnicent Pink Palace and its world class art collection. Savour the sights and scents in the acres of stunning Victorian gardens. Watch crafters at work in the Stableyard Studios. Treat yourself in the Castle gift shop or Castle Tearoom. On return to the hotel, time allowing, drop into the town of Dumfries. Day 5 Homeward journey.

Day 1 Travel to the hotel in Lanarkshire. Day 2 Full day excursion to the Isle of Bute sailing from Wemyss Bay to Rothesay. Take a scenic tour of the island with a stop at Mount Stuart, an outstanding and amboyant Victorian, Gothic style mansion with beautiful gardens within a 300 acre estate. Continue around the island allowing time for photo stops at the stunning bays of Scalpsie and Ettrick. Day 3 Take the morning sailing across the Clyde to Dunoon on the Cowal Peninsula. Visit Benmore Botanic Garden dramatically set in the mountains of Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. Highlights include the great Redwood Avenue, the Formal Garden and the Chilean Rainforest Glade.

Continue via Loch Eck and Loch Fyne to the shores of Loch Lomond. A loch cruise can also be added if required. Day 4 Travel to Falkirk this morning for a fascinating ride on the Falkirk Wheel. Built to commemorate the Millennium and as a link between the Forth and Clyde Canal and the Union Canal which lies 35 metres above. After the boat ride, learn about the project at the visitor centre. Continue to South Queensferry and board the Forth Belle for a sightseeing cruise on the Firth of Forth. Enjoy unrivalled views of Inchcolm Island with its historic abbey and the Forth bridges whilst listening to the guided commentary. Day 5 Homeward bound.
