Day 1 Short Channel crossing, overnight in the Metz area. Day 2 Travel south through the Austrian Tyrol. Cross the Europa Bridge into Italy and then travel on to Fondo via the Delle Palade Pass. Day 3 At leisure to explore the pretty village of Fondo and enjoy the hotel’s excellent hospitality. From the village it is possible to walk through the Sas Gorge to the idyllic Lake Smeraldo. Day 4 Full day to Lake Garda. Riva del Garda, with its harbour and maze of small streets, is worth some hours exploration. Include a cruise on the lake or travel to nearby Limone Sul Garda, with its picturesque waterfront location and dramatic mountainous backdrop.
Day 5 Full day to include a scenic drive to the old spa town of Merano. See the beautiful architecture, numerous shops and taste the town’s famous coee and pastries. Return to the hotel via the city of Bolzano. Take time to explore its mediaeval old town and the Gothic Cathedral. Day 6 Visit the historic city of Verona. See the Arena, Castelvecchio Fortress and house of Romeo and Juliet. A guided walking tour of the centre is highly recommended. Day 7 Depart Italy and travel over the Brenner Pass to Austria. On then to France and the Metz area for dinner and an overnight stay. Day 8 Short Channel crossing to Dover and home.

Day 1 Short Channel crossing. Overnight in the Metz area. Day 2 Travel south into Switzerland then onto northern Italy for the overnight in Como. Day 3 Continue past Milan and Parma to Viareggio for a 5 night stay. Day 4 A full day at leisure to enjoy this coastal resort, renowned for its Art Nouveau style. The town’s museums include one dedicated to the annual Carnival and Puccini’s House. Day 5 Travel to nearby Pisa and see the world famous leaning tower. Continue to the historic town of Lucca, birthplace of Puccini. End the day at a local vineyard for a tour and tasting.
Day 6 A full day exploring the Ligurian coast, taking in Forte dei Marmi, Sarzana and the mediaeval port village of Porto Venere. Day 7 Start the day with a visit to the impressive town of San Gimignano, famed for its mediaeval towers. Continue to Volterra, considered to be one of the nest preserved hilltop towns of its kind in the region. Day 8 Depart Viareggio and travel north to overnight in Como.
