Day 1 Channel crossing, overnight in the Metz area. Day 2 Travel through Germany, and into Austria to Achenkirch for a 5 night stay. Day 3 A day to relax in the small village of Achenkirch. There are a few shops and a café nearby, and paths along the lakeshore for a scenic walk, or enjoy a relaxing drink on the hotel’s terrace. Alternatively, there are regular local buses to the nearby bustling town of Maurach. Day 4 A day enjoying the lake. Make the short journey to Scholastika and take a late morning cruise on Lake Achensee to Pertisau. On arrival, take time to discover this lovely town, including the Achensee Beer Brewery and cable car for breathtaking views. Enjoy lunch at leisure before boarding the boat mid-afternoon and on arrival enjoy coee and cake at the hotel.

Day 5 Full day excursion beginning with a visit to the regional capital, Innsbruck. The city is famed for its old town due to attractions such as the Golden Roof, the Court Church and the Imperial Court Palace. A stop at the historic town of Hall in Tyrol or the renowned Swarovski Crystal World can also be included in this day. Day 6 Travel along the lakeshore to Jenbach and board the mid-morning train for the bustling town of Mayrhofen. Time at leisure on arrival before returning by road through the picturesque Ziller Valley and on past Maurach to the hotel. Day 7 Leave Achenkirch and travel through Germany for dinner and an overnight stay near Metz. Day 8 On to Calais for a short Channel crossing to Dover and home.

Day 3 Enjoy a full day at leisure in Bad Ischl. This historic spa town was once the summer resort of the Austrian monarchy and has much to oer including a vibrant centre, museums, parks and grand villas. A visit to the elegant Konditorei Zauner tea room is recommended. Day 4 A full day excursion to Salzburg. We suggest a half day guided sightseeing tour followed by an afternoon to explore at leisure.

Day 5 A full day excursion to Lake Wolfgang, starting at the pretty lakeshore town of St Wolfgang. From here perhaps enjoy a lake cruise up to St Gilgen with free time to explore before returning to Bad Ischl via the western shoreline and Strobl. Day 6 Explore the land of ‘The Sound of Music’. Start with the short drive through the landscape that featured at the beginning of the lm to arrive in Mondsee. Maria married Baron Von Trapp in Mondsee church. In the afternoon see sophisticated Gmunden on Lake Traunsee. Day 7 Leave Austria and return to Metz for dinner and an overnight stay. Day 8 Short Channel crossing to Dover and home.
